Ogbeta and Joseph to be involved at Peterborough United : Posh v Swans Latest
Tuesday, 15th Mar 2022 17:13 by Keith Haynes

Newly appointed swans assistant manager Matt Gill confirmed that both Nathanael Ogbeta and Kyle Joseph will be involved tomorrow night at London Road, Peterborough. Kyle scored four goals against QPR in an under 23 game at the swansea.com stadium yesterday afternoon, much to the delight of Gill and Russell Martin.

Matt Gill played 145 games for the posh between 1997 and 2004 and again four more games during a short loan spell from Norwich in 2010, so it’s a club he knows well. Fitting then maybe that he took today’s press briefing.

Swans assistant manager Matt Gill spent seven years at Peterborough United

Gill explained he understood the frustration of fans due to the swans extremely slow build up play, especially at Blackpool on Saturday. Responding to that question he said “We’ve proven we have a good team structure and being really connected that we can arrive in the final third in real control. Of course now we need to add that layer of opportunity created and take those opportunities. The slow build up ? That’s the way we are trying to control games, in other games we have built up exactly the same as that, we’ve just been a little bit better in the final third. You can’t be against it one week just because you haven’t scored, because you will find you’ve won a game playing exactly the same way “

Clearly not used to this type of spotlight Gill did remain relaxed when talking about Saturdays frustrating loss. “ We reviewed the game this morning as normal, and there will be loads of stuff we can learn to get better. Our next opportunity is obviously Wednesday. We are trying to get better, we have a young side, we are trying to develop players and then win games. It’s tough but that’s why we are in the role we are in”

When asked about the challenges ahead, especially next season Gill pointed out that there is still a way to go this season “The more development and learning we get the better, we want to finish ( this season) as strong as we possibly can” On his return to Peterborough United Gill thinks the new management will be a tough opposition.” I would imagine the last two games they have played, they could have won, they’ve been going really well, I’m hoping to bump in to Barry Fry at some point, it’s going to be a really tough game. He gave me my debut a long time ago did Baz, I’m just pleased he is still at the club, it will be good to see him. He’s a really good guy”

With Hannes Wolf back in training after apparently being for last week it seems the swans will have some fresh players to choose from tomorrow evening. Already now in the Peterborough area for pre match preparation the swans will fancy this one despite the poor showing in Lancashire last weekend. It will need them to up the tempo and add some slickness and risk to their play in the last third, do that and they will reap the rewards.
