Andy Fisher and Jamie Paterson will be key tonight for Swansea City
Tuesday, 8th Feb 2022 16:28 by @Cornish67David

A rejuvenated Jamie Paterson and new signing Andy Fisher will surely be the catalysts for something special to happen against Stoke City tonight. New swans signing Fisher seems now to have taken the number one spot in goal and Jamie Paterson came bouncing back on Saturday now there is no chance of a lucrative transfer until the summer at least.

Andy Fisher was the swans largest permanent signing of the January window, but compared to Hannes Wolf he wasn’t the biggest outlay. On Saturday he kept his first clean sheet and was certainly happy to do so “We stuck with it, the team spirit was up there and we ground out the result. It’s massive for me with a clean sheet but I don’t want to take any credit for that because the lads in front were unbelievable all game” Andy must be very pleased with his contribution as was Jamie Paterson who had a whole lot of other issues to address. “They got behind me, they sang my name, it was an amazing feeling and I was just glad to give them the three points. I love playing football, sometimes things off the pitch can be difficult and I just want to get back to playing football. The fans helped settle my nerves and I was glad to be able to repay them with an assist, and we got three points against a really good side. I will try and score and assist as many times as I can, and bring the leadership and experience the gaffer talks to me about.”

I must admit footballers do make me smile, but at times I’m sure we make them smile as well.

However Jamie being happy is far more important than him wondering how much money is on the table for him to leave Swansea. He will have plenty of time off for that to get sorted in the summer. As he said “We showed our togetherness and we need to push on from here. It has been a while since I played and it probably wasn’t the plan for me to play 90 minutes. The last 20 minutes were hard but I think that will stand me in good stead moving forward.”

Russell Martin did indicate that there could be a ‘different’ role for Jamie Paterson tonight, what that is we will find out for sure. It’s hard to speculate if that will be a starting role or one from the bench. Olivier Ntcham will have a late fitness test today, Ryan Manning is out for one game suspended and Kyle Naughton is injured. Yes there will have to be some shuffling of the pack for sure.

We will have the team news for you later.

Please give this all the support you can.
