Swansea City hope to conclude the loan signing of highly rated Manchester United defender Ethan Laird today. The Basingstoke born player is under contract until 2023 at Old Trafford and the club are keen to see him at Championship level this season. He played under Russell Martin at MK Dons last season, the loan was a complete success.

If all goes as expected Laird will travel back from Ewood Park with the squad post match today, there are still one or two minor details to settle, but we can expect to see him as a swans player this season. We do know his agents from Stellar Sports will also be at Ewood Park along with Neil Wood from the United academy. Ethan Laird played for the U23’s last night at Kidderminster Harriers starting the game but being subbed at half time. The game ended 2-2.

Laird is keen for this to go through as well, he enjoyed his time with Martin and his coaches at MK Dons immensely last season, and a step up in quality for the player isn’t seen as an issue at all.
