It is welcome of course to see the swans moving to recruit new players this summer. Yes, the club have lost enough going the other way, but the free transfer signing of Jamie Paterson does tell us all the criteria the club is operating in, so recruitment has to be even more succinct and appropriate.

Paterson does combine well with central forwards when played on the wing, and his assists rate is pretty good from either left or right wing. His disciplinary record is superb as well. All these factors will most certainly have appealed to the swans decision makers when talking to Jamie Paterson, Paterson became a Swansea City player at midday today.

Swansea is overstocked with players hopefully on an upward trajectory. Benda, B Cooper, O Cooper, Williams, Cullen, Garrick, Whittaker, Joseph, Piroe. Can Swansea risk playing all 9 at once? No Patterson is for balance and experience helping to close out games and pinch a few goals and helping the young guys develop.
