Alan Tate thinks Russell Martin is the ideal Swansea fit
Saturday, 31st Jul 2021 18:35 by Gruff Stephens

Swansea City caretaker manager Alan Tate believes that his club are very much on the right track to appoint Russell Martin as the next swans boss.

Discussing Russell Martin after the game today, in what seems to be a clear ‘ go ahead’ for him to openly discuss matters by the club Tate was very positive. “ I’ve not seen too many MK Dons games if I am honest but I know he faced a challenge when he first took over and they were at the bottom. He managed to get them out of it. He had an up and down season last year I think it’s fair to say, with where they finished, but he has got a philosophy and he believes in it which is brilliant. “If he can bring that here and get some consistency with it then the fans, the players and the club will be loving it. “The passing style he does like to play is synonymous with this club, so hopefully he comes in and matches results with performances. I think he plays some good attractive stuff," Tate said.

More players in is a priority
In terms of squad-wise, the squad definitely needs more players in it because, the plan for people like Lincoln McFayden, Scott Butler, Ben Lloyd, Dan Williams and Oli Cooper, all the lads that we ended the game with today which, to be fair, is a fantastic achievement for the academy, but in terms of being ready for first team football, Oli and Dan potentially could be, but the rest are far too young. There was a lot of hype around Ben, but we've got to remember Ben is 16. There is a plan for him and his development and being a first team player in the Championship at the minute isn't it."

Russel Martin left the ground quickly after his teams defeat at Bournemouth this afternoon.
