Ironically, it was the original oil club (Chelsea) who paid €100m for Kepa. He’s on loan at Real Madrid so they haven’t paid anywhere near that kind of money.

The other players you’ve mentioned are youth academy products and 38 year old Modric who’s leaving at the end of this season.

I’m not sure there’s any point in carrying on this conversation if you can’t see the difference between what Man City had on their bench in comparison to Real Madrid.

Ortega’s their no.2 keeper and would walk into most teams in Europe. He was on the bench last night alongside Carson who’s their third choice keeper so not really relevant to my point.

Other subs included: Stones, Ake, Kovacic, Doku, Alvarez and Nunes. That’s £250m+ worth of talent sat on the bench.

Maybe it’s stretching it to say they have two world class players in every position but I don’t see any other club with the same level of squad depth. Real are closer than most but they still struggle to compete.

‘Our clubs’ aka Man City (and Chelsea) have been charged by the Premier League so this isn’t an England vs Europe situation.

115 charges against City over a 9 year period including failure to provide accurate and up to date financial information and failure to co-operate with Premier League investigations.

Innocent parties don’t usually refuse to co-operate with investigations. And it’s quite simple re the other clubs you’ve mentioned, if they’ve broken the rules then they’re cheats as well and should be charged.

And what about all the clubs in England and Europe who haven’t cheated but have been denied titles because of City and Chelsea’s cheating?

I agree that Real Madrid are far from perfect. But 115 charges tell a story and it’s pretty obvious that City have cheated to assemble their squad. Two world class players in every position, hoarding talent to stop rivals signing players etc.

The reason they’ll probably win the league again is purely down to squad depth whilst their rivals visibly run out of steam because they’ve had to play their best players week in week out to maintain pace until this stage in the season. It happens every year without fail.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and maybe the above has coloured my view but I find City incredibly boring to watch. They remind me of a Mourinho side, almost robot like with the non stop sideways passing until they find an opening. And the tactical fouls to stop counter attacks. Each to their own but it’s not for me.

Does this make City the trillion dirham bottle jobs?

Still a fraction of what City have ‘officially’ spent and we’ll probably never know how much they have actually spent including all the back handers and bungs.

Apologies Stow- looks like you were spot on last weekend to say we’re bang in trouble. I spoke too soon!

Nahki Wells did us a massive favour with the last minute equaliser vs Huddersfield. The difference between starting next weekend’s game out of the bottom three rather than back in the mire.

Now let’s see if our lot can take advantage of this piece of good fortune…

Agreed but it’s a big difference for our mentally deficient group to be going into next Saturday’s must win game above the relegation zone rather than back in the sh1t.

For all the bad results this weekend, the Nahki Wells equaliser could prove to be huge for us. Before he scored we were likely to be back in the bottom three before kicking a ball next Saturday. Now we’re back to 3pts clear but realistically it’s 4pts given our goal difference.

Feels like we’ll still need a result or two to avoid the drop but can’t underestimate the importance of having a 3/4pt gap going into the final three games.

Agreed. I did say at the time that part of the reason for my confidence was that we’d become a difficult team to beat under Marti but that’s gone completely out of the window ever since.

I suppose it’s difficult to account for stupidity like Begovic‘s brain fart at Plymouth.

I’ll put my hand up and admit I said I thought it’d be fine and it was over dramatic to panic because we had got ourselves in a good position. But I can’t remember anyone saying we were definitely safe and having a pop at anyone who said otherwise.

I still think it’ll be fine but they’re making it a tougher task than it needed to be a couple of weeks ago.

I’m one of them and I still think it’ll be ok as more of a glass half full person but it couldn’t have gone much worse for us since the Swansea win. They’ve thrown away all the good work over the last couple of months and completely sh1t the bed.

Stoke equalise and we’re back to 3pts above relegation with a much better goal difference so basically 4pts. Stop the count!

Still struggling to understand the logic behind starting four centre backs against the likes of Philogene and Carvalho. The outcome is all too predictable and it’s on Marti as much as I love the job he’s done this season.

Was thinking the same. We seem to have dragged him down to our level.

Four centre backs gives us very little width and not been a resounding success so far today in terms of making us stronger defensively.

I’d sell him if we get a decent offer as that’s the only way the club can survive. But we’ll miss him and I don’t buy into this idea that we’ll somehow be a better team without him. Be careful what you wish for!

It’s not unheard of and we can’t completely rule it out. But under Cifuentes we’ve become a very difficult team to beat. I’m confident we’ll get at least a couple of draws and hopefully more.

I’ve been saying it since the Swansea game so you can all blame me if we’re relegated!
