A good friend sent me the following "Farmer's Prayer" today. I thought I would share since it might be appropriate for the Swans AFC senior team: Farmer's Prayer (By: Author Unknown) A pastor asked an older farmer, decked out in bib overalls, to say grace for the morning breakfast. "Lord, I hate buttermilk", the farmer began. The visiting pastor opened one eye to glance at the farmer and wonder where this was going. The farmer loudly proclaimed, "Lord, I hate lard." Now the pastor was growing concerned. Without missing a beat, the farmer continued, "And Lord, you know I don't much care for raw white flour". The pastor once again opened an eye to glance around the room and saw that he wasn't the only one to feel uncomfortable. Then the farmer added, "But Lord, when you mix them all together and bake them, I do love warm fresh biscuits! So, Lord, when things come up that we don't like, when life gets hard, when we don't understand what you're saying to us, help us to just relax and wait until you are done mixing. It will probably be even better than biscuits. Amen." Merry Christmas! |

Thanks, Doc! Precisely my point. Comparing Swans attempted shots vs. opponents is like comparing apples to oranges. If the service isn't good enough quality, then the chance of scoring is reduced tremendously. Yes, sometimes the decisions are wrong on the striker's or attacker's part, when an extra pass is needed. And, the opposite could also be true as when a shot should have been taken instead of an improperly placed or timed pass. Swans need to provide better service to their main goal scorers. |

Please define "proper" striker. Both Vipo & Cullen have shown in the past that they can score. We need better & consistent creativity in providing through-balls & crosses into the box for "proper" strikers to score, imo. |

I disagree. We're playing one half of the pitch well, the defensive half. We're bottom of the table in goals scored with 11 goals so far. A reknown national team coach & player told me once that average strikers score about 1 in 10 shots on goal. That's an average striker. My point is (In My Opinion) it's obvious that not enough decent service is being provided to our supposed average goal scorers. |

The lack of goals scored comes down to: 1) a lack of decent crosses from wingers/wingbacks & thru-balls centrally (Key provided some yesterday, and Tymon occasionally provides a few; Ronald should provide more than he does; and, whoever is playing the ACM, needs to provide more & better thru-balls); 2) lack of competent finishers (we've all discussed finding additional recruits, but why not try some of our younger players, e.g., Wilson, Nzingo, or a different #9, say Ronald up top?). Here's an idea: Play Ronald in the #9 position, and Govea out wide in his spot. Enough of this insanity of playing the same players and expecting a different outcome! |
| Forum Reply | Does Luke Williams trust his academy options ? at 14:55 28 Oct 2024
I stated the following outside of the Foum: "Williams is sending a message to the Swans Academy that he has more confidence in other club's training and personnel than Swansea's Academy Program's. That is so sad! If the current owners really want to cut costs, then just get rid of the Academy, its coaches, players, and other support persons, and just look to the market for players." I should have added to my last sentence by saying, ...because very seldom are academy players given senior team opportunities, so why have the program? Why put money into a program if the senior team manager keeps ignoring the potential talent he has on hand? Luke, just give the youngsters 1st team opportunities. Parker, Nzingo, Govea, Wilson, Lloyd, Lissah. Try playing Abdulai more centrally because he's not a wingback. |

Two young Swans who were given opportunities to play were the Brentford loanee, Peart-Harris, and new signee, Bianchini. Shows that Williams has more confidence in players that have been brought through other club's organization rather than Swans Academy. If I were an Academy player, then I would be very disheartened. Nzingo, Parker, Govea, Wilson, Lloyd, Lissah, Watts, etc. |

Hopefully, stepping up! Would love to see Wilson get an opportunity! Cullen, Vipo, Ronald up top with Goncalo, Cooper, Grimes, Tymon, Cabango, Darling, Key, and, of course, imo player of the year for Swans so far, Vigouroux in goal. Bring in subs like Peart-Harris, Bianchini, Abdulai, Naughton, Wilson, Fulton, etc. to spread the load. This is a game Swans can win. |

For this Saturday's match with Rovers, I'm hoping to see both Parker & Govea on the bench with Cullen starting on the wing with Vipo up top. Parker should see some game action, coming off the bench, to help secure a 1-3 away win for the Swans! If Williams starts Abdulai in the wrong position (out wide), then the best the Swans can hope for is a draw. Trying to play Azeem out wide is the wrong position for him. |

Josh Thomas should not have been loaned out this summer! Why is it that Swans management have no faith/confidence in our 21 yr olds (and younger)? You see other clubs playing their 21 yr olds, and we get loaned players who are under 21 yrs old. Now, Swans senior team is short of strikers? Here's his player rating (9/10) remarks from the recent Wales U-21 game against Iceland: "While Cotterill will take the credit for the goals, none of them would be possible without Thomas’ work. The Bromley striker was tenacious in winning the ball back, willing to run in behind and down the channels, and showed a great deal of finesse in the final third." |
