Very good marks from Clive, just one three and two fives from seventeen games. All the others six and above. We have won nine and drawn one of those.

What could possibly etc?

Reading FC ownership Saga
at 09:18 24 Mar 2025

Yes, you're probably right Loftboy but what about the other 'half'.
Many born and raised in the Reading area, in the Madejski era who are Reading and only Reading.

We have had our crises, been in administration once, almost a second time, almost denied a promotion, suffered the world's largest fine and could easily be in another crisis anytime soon.

I know that as they have been 'local' rivals we have all disliked them for various things, match tactics, kit, nicknames etc but we should really have some empathy for their real fans.

Like all clubs, they have some decent people who support them and are employed by them.
I hope for their sakes the club survives

Wow that's brilliant for you essextaxiboy and heart warming for your mum too. I'm guessing he first went to Rangers about 85 years ago, which means around 1940.

I was away for the Leeds game but your presence will be much missed at future games. Good luck and best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

Leeds Reflection
at 15:41 15 Mar 2025

Missing the game as out of the country but watching on Sky, I thought it was an exciting game. I thought we played well, much better than recently. The effort and fight weren't lacking today.

I agree with you on the first Leeds goal. It deflected off Fox. He didn't try to play it and therefore the Leeds player on the goal line was offside as he attempted to play the ball, even if he didn't get a touch.

Saito, for me, was an enthusiastic, if unwise, launch at the ball. He knew he got it wrong and it was a red. Unfortunately the ref had a much better view of it than we did on first look.

I think a little more positive and less negative needed from you when we have a decent result and improved performance.🤔😁

As 17-match unbeaten run ends are Leeds going to fall apart again? Oppo Profile

We've an excellent recent home record against them. Won the last four and six wins and just one defeat in the last eight.

It will take a superhuman effort and a lot of luck to continue that record. Yes it happened last season but we had an evening kick off, needed points at the tail end of the season and will be missing Field, Chair, JCS and fit strikers from last season's effort.

Let's hope we are up for it and don't let ourselves down.

It's damage limitation time. Play a low block, experienced as possible, packed defense, as few midgets as possible.

Nardi; Dunne, Morrison, Cook, Fox, Pal; Morgan, Edwards, Colback; Smyth and Frey. Bennie to be used of the bench when required.

And the gap gets bigger….
at 13:39 11 Mar 2025

So if a player is with a top European club and national team and they get to the finals of the Euros, the club WC the following year and the World cup the year after that, they will be playing for almost four years without a proper break.

It just pure greed and absolute madness. I hope that not too many English players are involved and it all blows up on FIFA and the clubs involved.

Liverpool and Arsenal should have an even easier time of the league next season.

Ten-man Baggies latest to trap QPR in low block ball-ache – Report
at 10:49 10 Mar 2025

I haven't seen anyone else say it, so, from memory, my take on the Furlong red card.

Pal smashed into Furlong and another WBA player. Referee played on. Shortly after Pal on the deck and Furlong, obviously steaming, belts the ball, as hard as he can, at Pal but misses.
Next Furlong uses a bit of arm and pointed elbow in a challenge with Saito who, being much smaller, has his face at elbow height.
It was just on the edge of the screen. The linesman seemed to report what he saw to the ref and he produced red.
Furlong seemed to have lost his temper just before and that, most likely, wasn't missed by the officials. It probably all contributed to the outcome.

Anyway, great read. You make a miserable performance effort into a hilarious, whilst realistic, appraisal of our shortcomings.

American Pie is a truly great song. Nothing like as repetitive as Hey Jude.

One of my favourites. I saw it done by a brilliant house band in Cafe Hua NYC around the late 80s. They were brilliant.

Time to play our own

I'm pretty sure that I remember Lee Hoos, a few seasons back, saying there wasn't any money for position in the Championship.
The TV money was the same wherever you finished.

It could have changed in more recent deals.

Fox came on because we switched to a back three and he is an experienced left sided, left footed defender.
As well as Morrison played, he always looked uncomfortable on his left foot and on the centre left of a four he had to keep switching the ball to his right foot.
Edwards does it a bit but is better at it and more comfortable using his left.

Traditional cafes
at 15:19 3 Mar 2025

We travel up from the south coast so are pretty hungry by around 1pm for a 3 o'clock ko. Cafe Louche on the Askew is ok. Friendly service, medium priced and reasonably smart appearance for a cafe. Workers breakfast is for big appetites.

It's opposite the Orchard Tavern and about a 15 minute walk to South Africa Rd.
