Ever Spot Someone
at 14:50 22 Nov 2024

Yep, spotted my late father in what is now the Lower Loft on the tv from the 1979 home game v Birmingham (I had a Saturday job at the time). Paused it whilst Don Shanks was having a bust up with Mark Dennis and located him. It is now my screen saver.

Cracking tune, Brian. There was a Radio 4 programme all about it a few years back.

Where have the goals gone in the Championship?
at 14:06 21 Nov 2024

All credit to Luton who at least had a go last season. They had a good time and pocketed a shed load of money to help fund the new stadium. Also, they didn't have a gambling company as a sponsor and missed out on a lot of cash but that's to be applauded too.

1973/74 Season

Junior Campbell, the pop star, had said on morning TV that he was off to Loftus Road to see us thrash Leicester City. I was convinced, as a young kid, that we were going to win too.
Also, I was ill and missed the 8-2 win against Wednesday. So, thinking that we'd absolutely annihilate Plymouth in the next round and possibly even surpassing the eight goals I was really looking forward to it but then it went all so typically Rangers.

Should have put Dunne up front alongside Celar in the Sunderland game.

Timothy West RIP

He and Prunella used to take the bus from Clapham Junction to Wandsworth Common North Side where they lived. A charming man with no airs and graces who was always willing to chat. RIP Timothy.

Is this how some “journalists” get their news by checking out who’s in the stand? If that’s the case, I’m going for Hugh Pym with Sean Walsh as his assistant.

Thanks Clive for shoehorning Kerry Katona and Professor Plum into the match report. Certainly, many don’t have a cluedo.

Edit: Strange to be downvoted on this though!

He’s not very good. How many games have we looked good in the time he has been here. Preston away and Leeds at home afaik.

Doesn't Mosta have a huge church dome and wasn't it hit by a bomb but failed to explode? It's a very long time since I was there back in 1975 on a European school road trip and saw my first ever 18/X film-Zardoz with Sean Connery and Charlotte Rampling. The cinema always played the English newsreels showing the late great Arthur Ashe winning Wimbledon.
