I would go for a controversial 2 prong approach.
Appoint Francesco Guidolin on a short term contract to the end of June. No compensation after. This would allow the club to get a new manager in from June 1st with 2 working for a month on handover. It would also not restrict the club to out of work managers but would allow managers not prepared to jump ship during the season to be considered.
Ok Guidolin hasn't managed for a while but winning managers do not forget how to motivate teams or win games
Last time he took on a Premiership relegation side and ended up with a better win percentage than Michael Laudrup, Paul Clement and Carlos Carvalhal. He was a winner with none of this performance comes first. That's what we need for the remainder of the season, a bit of steel. Rather than a panick appointment, it would give us time to get the right long term appoint8for next season.
I certainly won't be renewing my season ticket if they appoint Russell Martin or Gary Monk as a long term appointment. |
