But we can't call it a waste. People had an option to stop it but didn't take it because the vast majority of people either actively voted in favour of it or didn't express an opininon either way. Manifesto's aren't ideal, but they're all we likely to have. If a political party doesn't deliver on their pledges they can be removed at the next election, if they had to reconsult before they implemented any of their manifesto pledges they would run out of time to get anything done. People voting in the same way year after year and through generations is a massive problem and is probably why we have a Senedd in the state it's in. Drakeford had to be the least electable politician in recent history especially after his handling of Covid restrictions. I was baffled he was able to form another government. |

Yes. But the increase was in Labours manifesto and they were elected to deliver it, similar to the 20 mph speed limit. A waste to me but it's what the people wanted. |

And to a certain extent this is my personal problem with national politics infiltrating local politics. Commenting on Waspi, WHA, trade unions etc is nothing he can change so it shouldn't influence his vote. The bottom line is that he won't support the budget but doesn't seem to want to suggest any alternatives. I'm guessing my council tax will go up by 5%, I'm not happy about it, but just look at the state of the place we live in. |

I honestly don't think they are wasting billions. Although the definition of waste is very much down to the individual and their priorities. |

Yes. It sort of summed up my problem with socialism, doesn't want to cut services and doesn't want to increase tax. So who pays for it? |

He's a local councillor. He's banging on about stuff that he can't change and is way out of his remit. He's making a national political stand in a forum that's about local issues, totally wasting his time as an elected local official. I'm not a fan of national politics infiltrating local councils at all, I think all councillors should be independent. The major issue though is that the country is skint and services are already on their knees. It has to be paid for. |

Irrespective of Brexit. This councillor needs a little grasp of reality. |

And most of their "supporters" probably haven't got a clue. Some of Lowe's comments are astounding but not surprising. They're basically a Farage cult |

It should have. But most people who are claiming to support Reform won't have a clue. |

I checked. It's not the party with most members, it's whoever is nominated and gets the most votes from Senedd members. Technically the first minister could be from any party, obviously that won't be the case because other parties won't vote for them. The vote is going to be so split between parties next year we're going to have a rainbow coalition. It'll be everyone v Reform / Tories, unless the Tories do unexpectedly well. |

How is Starmer going to drag us in to the third world war? What's he going to do that's going to provoke Russia more than NATO giving Ukraine billions of pounds worth of weapons to fire at Russians? |

The blackbeltbarrister aka Daniel Shensmith. Often has Starmer in his YouTube videos as a thumbnail. It's totally political, especially in this case. |

Rule of thumb. If anyone says "you won't see this on mainstream media" is usually talking bollox. |

I understand where you're coming from. I try to ignore some posters but the nonsense posted occasionally gets the better of me. And I don't mean people I don't agree with. I mean propaganda, ignorance, arrogance and stupidity. |

They'd also need electable candidates living in Wales. I doubt they have many. The English ones are bad enough. There's a core vote for the other parties who will turn out. I'm not sure Reform will get enough actual votes. We'd need the biggest turnout in Senedd election history to see that I think. |

This is where it gets tricky. If Reform are the largest party it still doesn't mean they will form a coalition to govern. Unless a party gets 49 seats they won't be able to govern outright. I can't see Reform getting that, even though they will get most votes from the right. The new system lends itself to coalition governments in the future. The Left will vote Labour, Plaid, Green and for minor parties. That'll split the vote from the political left, but almost certain to give them more than a combined 49 seats. The Lib Dems will get a couple too. Labour, Plaid and the Lib Dems have been involved in a coalition in Cardiff before to some degree. The Greens fit in well with them politically too. I can't see anyone really forming a coalition with Reform, nobody from the left for any reason and I don't think the Tories would because it would set a precedent between them and Reform. I really don't think they want that as it could spell the end of the Tory party across the UK. We could potentially end up with a coalition of minority parties if this happens, but I honestly don't know if the Reform protest vote will actually make it to the ballot paper. We'd need to see a big increase in voter turnout and I can't see it happening. I'm not certain of the system in Wales now, but in Westminster in this scenario the PM before the election stays on to try and form a coalition government. If this is the case another Labour government is most likely in coalition with others. |

I don't think they will, thanks in part due to the new voting system and more seats. I can see a Labour / Plaid coalition with a large voting swing away from Labour to reform, it wouldn't surprise me if Reform form the second largest party in the senedd. |
