In 1995 i completely under appreciated Prince. Don't get me wrong , i loved his music but i just thought he was just another pop star . I didn't realise how utterly shite music will get in the next 30 years. I just took it as standard these pop stars with talent would just tick over forever. Where the hell have they gone. Seriously?
Done a Leftfield -Leftism radio mix with some other tracks of the same ilk. . Early 90s shizzle. On vinyl. If you do check it out, apologies for talking over the tracks, its part of the radio deal to give shout outs and track ID's etc.. lol
Watched The Joker 2. Great acting by Phoenix but nothing really happens in the film. It's also a musical, which is odd. It's almost like Todd Phillips was told to make another film due to the success of the last one and just threw this out there. This has nothing to do with the DC comic Joker and is just a film about a very sad, mentally disturbed person. They teased something bigger was going to happen but they kinda bottled it.
Love this. Nice one. Leftfields signature sound was that heavy dub quality. It took dance music into different territory. Perhaps I should have started a Dub music thread ?
It's possibly my fav track on the album , along with Inspection (check one) and Song of Life. Leftfield also made loads of solid remixes and variations of these tunes that keep the sound fresh. I'm seeing them in May at Brixton so looking forward to that. Shame Paul Daley isn't with them anymore though.
1995 a good year for music ? This seminal album was released for a start , Leftfield- Leftism 30 years ago today. kicking off today's Friday music thread... Release the Pressure.
Some sound parenting there. We've been open and honest about all things drink, drugs and sex related during the teenage years. They are going to make mistakes, that's how they learn. You cant bubble wrap them and expect they will just obey. They wont. Having an open and honest relationship and being approachable as a parent is the most important thing. Otherwise they will just do things behind your back anyway.
I could live without arguing but unfortunately that's not how life works. You have to raise the levels to get your point across and get heard sometimes. Just human nature.
There's also levels of abuse, intrinsically linked to arguing. If you log into a football message board, giving it out, deliberately trying to wind up individuals, than its fair game. Expect something back, and it might be not what you want or like either. But we are, on here at least, supposed to be responsible adults, and there are lines that can be crossed, that we should be aware of. The stuff that Clive has had to endure in the past is quite frankly ridiculous and out of order. But he is, whether he likes it or not, in the public eye and clearly there's some loons out there with loads of time on their hands. Quite how anyone else on here is getting that kind of level of personal abuse dumbfounds me. I think the online anonymity is an issue. Similar to road rage, where there's a disconnection from the real world and people change when they get behind the wheel. Likewise getting behind the keyboard. A good question to ask yourself is, would your mum, or your close friends and family be proud of your behaviour.? Football naturally creates a divide, the red side or the blue side, choose one. I dont think abuse within football or society has got better or worse, its probably less physically violent but i think the intentions to hurt someone is still there. I used to think LFW was like being in a pub where everything was fair game but its not these days. People are getting banged up for things said online (not on here atm) and its only going to get worse, so some individuals are closing ranks. I guess that's fair enough.
Perfectly normal to be concerned for your kids going to parties. All part of the fun of being a parent. It's even better when you have to be their taxi for the night. My kids have all had phones from a young age, that's just how it is nowadays.
