| Forum Reply | MC has got to go at 23:11 5 Nov 2024
For me, I don't think it would make a difference like it did when we sacked Ainsworth last season. The major differences are I think this group of players are (on the whole) still fighting for the manager, they're just not very good. Martis team choices, formations and tactics mostly make sense and help them not lose 4-1 more often in my opinion. Most of the goals we let in are due to terrible errors and really poor play. Simply put, it'd be like moving deckchairs around on the titanic and i don't think there's a manager who could do any better with that available group of players currently. We'd probably go for someone like Stephen Schumacher if we were to sack him though, and he'd face the same sh*tshow Marti has to deal with. The recruitment and running of this club are the problem not the manager. |

Celar makes me miss Dykes. He's f*cking so awful. Actually, he's not awful, he doesn't get anywhere near the ball to even proove whether he's awful or not, he's just non-existent for almost all of the game. We might as well charge him what we pay to watch this sh*t because he's a spectator. There were at least two easy interceptions from poor Boro passes at the back tonight in the first half where he just seemed to stop running for just as he got close to the ball. It's so frustrating to watch. |

Just been looking at the Development Squad to actually remind myself of the strikers we have on our books. I'd forgotten about a young CF we'd signed from Burnley in the summer called Rohan Vaughan. Has anyone seen him play for the Dev Squad or know how he's getting on? He looks like a big lad. [Post edited 25 Oct 14:17]

I was thinking Madsen in the false 9 role. He's mastered the art of playing the false 6 position so far this season, so why not! Plus he is technically our 2nd top scorer this season. |

Interesting that Morgan has jumped above EDB in the young CM pecking order during the international break. He cant event make the bench at the moment! I know he wasnt that great in the recent cup games but strange just how far he's fallen out of favour without playing that much. He cant be training too well currently or maybe he's injured, who knows anymore. |

Not much quality but at least they showed a lot of grit and fight in that 2nd half. We must've made more tackles than we've done in a long time in that game. Definitely think Varane is getting better. |

I think the shape possibly needs to change when JCS and Colback aren't available. Although if you cant defend short corners then it doesn't really matter what formation you play. In an attacking sense, I think this shape works because we create chances and score goals in most games with it and we had over 20 shots with it last night, so I think some fine tuning is needed rather than a complete overhaul. We also need to work out a more suitable role for Madsen too, because he did quite well in that wide attacking left CM role in the first half when we had the ball, but without it he looked lost in a defensive sense to me. Field was on his own in there. Not getting Hayden (or someone like him) back is looking like a bigger mistake with every passing game at the moment though. We need a calming presence in CDM. |

Put simply... probably not. Who finished above who last season from respected positions? Let's see where everybody lands come May. We don't win at Blackburn no matter who's in charge. |
| Forum Thread | Kelman at 08:06 25 Sep 2024
I just noticed Charlie Kelman has already scored three league goals this season (4 in total) out on loan at Leyton Orient. Is this the year he finally makes some significant development and returns to us as someone who could have an impact? Or is he just a mid-table L1 player at best? Still only 22 (23 in Nov), so he might have a chance. Also, is he in the last year of his deal with us, or are we not allowed to know such things?! |

He's probably got lots to learn and get up to speed with, but it was nice to see a QPR CM get in the box and tuck one away for a change. [Post edited 2 Sep 10:04]

If he carries on like this then what a bargain he could turn out to be! |

It'll be on sky sports later (I think they said 10:15pm). When I was flicking through the channels they were just doing some sort of weird pre draw to decide whether the prem teams in Europe play at home or away I think! Any excuse to make something simple more complicated |

He was very good. He was a having a bit of banter with fans in the loft in the lead up and aftermath of their equaliser which I thought was pretty funny. Looked like a bit of a wally giving it the biggun after he scored his pen only to get done 4-1 though! |

I hope there's a player there, but it's way too early to say one way or the other really after so little playing time. My early thoughts based on going to the game tonight and seeing the Plymouth match on tv the other day is that he's got a good first touch and seems to have good awareness, but I thought he struggled a bit to hold it up at times against a very physical Luton team and he's unlikely to do anyone for pace, so he's going to need a particular type of ball played into him either near to or inside the box from midfield, so he can bring others into it like he did for the first goal tonight otherwise he'll be very easy to isolate. I think he looked more effective with a big man (Frey) alongside him against Plymouth, so that might be one way we can play to his strengths. Or maybe Chair cutting in and getting closer to him and passing into his feet might be another way. There's so many new attacking players in the side though that its just going to take time for them to understand the movement patterns and triggers that Marti wants. Early days. |

I really like the look of him. He was one of the only positives from that 2nd half last night. He didn't stop running. Obviously needs to work on the final ptoduct, but definitely looks like he could develop into a decent Championship player. I think we should keep him until Jan and then see what happens, as it's probably going to take Saito a while to adapt to playing in England and its good to have options in case of injuries and suspensions. |

Surely we've reached the stage where the '3pm Blackout' serves almost zero purpose now? Attendances for all of the Saturday games will surely be lower than if they were on at 3pm. What I don't know or understand though is if it didn't exist, would Sky still pick these ridiculous kick off times anyway? |

4 from me, although that's only because my Spurs supporting cousin and his wife are very keen to go, as this is one of his very few chances to see his side play live this season at a 'reasonable price' (his words not mine!). A sad state of affairs! Happy to be going down to Loftus Rd again though to see some football and have a couple of beers. Hopefully the weather stays good! |
