| Forum Reply | Return Dates Set For Injured Southampton Duo Ramsdale And Bednarek at 17:44 22 Nov 2024
Last week, at the age of 51, Paddy McGuinness cycled from Wrexham to Glasgow on a Raleigh Chopper bike for BBC Children In Need raising over £9m. He did this in 4.5 days so was cycling approx 70 miles a day, there or thereabouts for the first 4 days, less on the last day arriving in Glasgow Friday lunchtime. The route took him through the steep hills of the Lake District and then over Shap Summit. He’s a 51 y/o Radio 2 DJ, had Ross Stewart, a 28 y/o professional sportsman been asked to do it, when they went over to the mobile reporter based at the first day lunch stop and asked if he was there yet, the reply would have been…. he’s two weeks away 😂 |

What will it take for him not to be proud of his team? * 35% possession * The keeper hoofing the ball clear so long and so high it comes down with snow on it midway in our attacking half of the pitch * Defenders clearing the ball in a similar fashion * Midfielders playing quick incisive forward passes, not sideways and backwards triangles * Wingers putting crosses into the box for AA who forsakes his wide position and plays as a CF or for Tall Paul when he comes on for the last 20 minutes * In summary, totally ignoring RM’s cr@p tactics and doing their own thing #Mistrust the process, he can’t drop everybody ⚽️ |

Agree 100% with both of you. I have always maintained that we got promoted last season despite RM not because of him. Because he is so stubborn I don’t think he is either capable of change or even willing to consider it so we are effectively relegated as possession football seems to have SR in some kind of induced hypnotic state and therefore they seem to have no intention of changing anything. What grieves me is how unnecessary this all is and what it will cost us going forwards, and I don’t just mean in terms of lost revenue but also our best / most promising young players. All for the flawed belief in a system of playing that was never fit for purpose. |

Sack Ankersen as well, he's a bigger pri@k than Martin. I see SR, and Ankersen in particular, as a cancer that is just slowly eating our Club away from the inside. Solak needs to find himself a reliable lieutenant with a decent knowledge of football, bin Ankersen & Martin and get the club back on its feet and heading in the right direction ASAP. |

This is hardly exhustive reserach but from what I can see you have to drop down to the Nothern Premier League Division One North where in the 2015/16 season New Mills AFC's record was P42 / W0 / D3 / L39 The worst Football League proper record I can find is way back in 1899/1900 when Loughborough played in what is now The Championship and their record for the season was P34 / W1 / D5 / L27 with a goal difference of -82 (F18 - A100) Sunderland did set a record in the early/mid 2000's for 20 consecutive PL defeats, unless that's been bettered since? Way to go yet then |

If, by some freak of nature, that hurricane (I flatly refuse to use its name) had veered off course and instead of Florida suffering it had crossed the Atlantic, made its way up the Channel, dodged the IOW and hit Portsmouth full on it would have done about £100m’s worth of improvements 😀 |

Manning will play in a Captain Jack face mask with a shoehorn tucked into his left sock so he can roam around quelling the might of the Arsenal attacking threat. |

Spot on. If this comes in, then well & truly gone, and gone for good. Clubs like ours will be no better off because the scumbag agents will want every penny of what was the transfer fee for the player they represent as an even more over inflated signing on fee or alternatively paid in chunks as higher wages every month. In that scenario it would be pointless us signing Ramsdale, for example, let’s say we paid him £10m signing on fee in lieu of a transfer fee and maybe an extra £25k a week also in lieu of a fee then in December let’s say Newcastle’s keeper gets the same injury Bazunu got and off Ramsdale goes without any financial compensation to us. Just would not be worth the risk as the better off club’s would literally pick off all the best players as and when they wanted to. The only benefit I can see would be if players no longer have a value we could simply get rid of the likes of Ross Stewart without having to pay off a huge contract, if you are not getting anything for a player when they leave then why have them on anything other than a three month rolling contract? Same for managers for that matter! And loyalty bonuses can go in the trash bin as well. Also, might as well scrap the Academy because if you produce a Dibling he’ll be gone for nothing with four weeks notice so what’s the point? All I can see is the clubs with rich owners getting further and further away from the rest of us, so as you rightly say, the game’s gone. RIP Association Football for the majority of us, the plastics will inherit the earth. [Post edited 4 Oct 20:34]

If we are not very careful RM’s asinine treatment of Dibling will cost us the services of the player permanently. As it stands, it appears the TD has a genuine affection for SFC, evidenced by his swift return after leaving for the supposedly greener pastures of Chelsea. However much he loves it here, the ‘advisers’ that will inevitably surround him now will not put up with the mismanagement of his undoubted talent for long. It’s going to be a hard enough battle to keep him as it is but continue to mismanage his development like RM did on Monday evening and he will be out of the door in January. |

God help us Last Saturday, RM had the opportunity to watch our upcoming opponents this weekend playing at home against a fellow promoted side from last season. It would have been beneficial anyway but the benefits were doubled up by the fact that a fellow promoted side, 2-0 down at half time, would have shown him how to get back into the game and come away with a precious point. On top of that, Leicester are are next home opposition so a double opportunity to run the rule over both of our next two opponents at the same time. So, where was RM? Apparently in Winchester having lunch with Lucy Pinder. Nice to see he’s got his priorities right! Can you imagine suggesting to Sir Alex Ferguson that instead of watching his next two upcoming opponents play each other on a free day for Man U that he took us wife out to lunch instead?! There wouldn’t be enough different @%# symbols on the keyboard to accurately transcribe his reply! |
