1. Yes, it's 6 games - Martin had 16 matches; 1 win and 2 draws = 5 points; 13 losses;11 goals for; 36 goals against. 2. What discernible style do you think we should have? 3. Granted some strange selections but which managers don't have strange selections. we don't know everything that goes on behind the scenes. 4. Brentford are an excellent team that have been well managed, as has the club, over the last few years and much better than we are; they previously had 3 away wins when we have none with one home win. Saints have the worst home record and the worst away record. 5. SR are clearly finacial grifters out of their football depth. |

Juric has had a few games; give the bloke a chance. We're down anyway. Don't forget Juric is having to cope with Martin's squad. He's not going to perform miracles. He's got until the end of the season, then it's at least fairer to judge - even though he won't be able to build his own team before then. We've just got to hope we make some improvements, win a few games and keep fighting. |

Low bar unfortunately. I noticed our former young left back Meghoma was on the Brentford subs bench. Funnily enough, he came from Tottenham. [Post edited 4 Jan 20:52]

Agree with you there Grim, seems some 'fans' have never seen a good full back play for Saints try Ivan Golac or Mick Mills or Steve Mills or Mark Dennis or Peter Rodriques or Jason Dodd. KWP just isn't up to their level of consistent quality albeit that he's been OK for Saints and on occasions good to very good. Charging up the pitch and putting in the occasional good cross, and scoring the odd goal, doesn't make a consistently good full back. Being a consistently good defender, whose duty is primarily to defend, isn't KWP. Tottenham did get rid of him for a reason. The clue is in the direction of players Saints to Spurs eg. Chivers, Bale, Wanyana, Richards - good ( except F Forster but that was knowingly for a second stream keeper) but Spurs, which doesn't happen often, to Saints eg. Frank Saul, Jamie Redknapp and KWP - not so good. [Post edited 4 Jan 19:40]

That's a mid -table Championship squad at best. I'm hoping Juric will improve the team a substantial amount. To be honest I'd hate to watch that set of players every week. It would be too depressing - talk about mediocre. I predict now losing away to Wrexham and Millwall! Juric will do well if after the summer transfer madness he can build a team capable of seriously competing for promotion. Good old SR, what football geniuses they are! |

The psychology of some managers should give psychologists a fairly extreme example of a particular human condition and failing. I would love to read a study if there's one out there. Martin is a case in point. To continue to have faith - until the end - in a style that was doomed against quality players and teams does indicate narcissism and delusion of a concerning nature (especially 'concerning' for me as a Southampton FC hardcore supporter). As Einstein said hammering away at the same idea after it has failed is a definition of insanity. But aren't we all guilty to some degree- largely because of egotism, naivety and inexperience but we've had bucket loads of that in the past few years from owners and management. With slightly more optimism: Juric seems to be more pragmatic which is what ultimately every manager should be to survive. Pragmatism wins over persistent style and mindset, wins every time. Him and SR. SR are ultimately the source of all decisions made. Martin's football was dreadful and so was everything else. He was shyte; end of story. At least Juric wants to attack and put teams under pressure and actually the stats prove that. Juric's stats will definitely improve by the end of the season. Agree our players just aren't good enough and it's SR's fault: they're the real reason our team isn't as good as it should be. SR should have sacked Martin in the summer and brought in a more capable, experienced manager. I'm pretty sure quite a few managers would have done a better job. Martin's failings are glaringly obvious to the most casual of football supporters. Let's see how Martin does in his next jog, I mean job, in the lower divisions. |

That's it 2-1 Palace. Predictable - I predicted the exact scoreline. Saints just not good enough en masse. We lurch on. |
