Tell you what mate, had the bloody owners shifted their backsides quicker it wouldn’t even be a story. Too busy haggling over money for four strikers ! And we end up with none.

No wonder managers have a gutsful after one shambolic window after another.

Extremely slow, more of a target man which we don’t use and terrible first touch. It’s a loss in terms of numbers of bodies but I don’t think he would have brought much to the party.

Grant is nothing to do with Martin, WBA pulled out of the deal. But what options remain is down to Martin. Obafemi has looked for pastures new as a result and Whittaker has now got to be integrated back into the side after Martin making it clear he doesn’t want him. That’s going to be an awkward conversation that didn’t need to be had. We will see how he handles it.

There aren’t links to inside info. Just like there isn’t any links to when you said Cooper wanted out after the final whistle in Wembley. These things are just known.

He only has blame for the things he is responsible for. Relationships with the players, management of the players and results being the main three. I don’t see people blaming him for much else.

I did, I wrote about it a while back. (Anything I post here, I have had the all clear that I can share. You are more than welcome to use that info in any articles or whatever you wish to use it for. No permission needed, just go for it). [Post edited 1 Feb 2023 0:49]

No wonder your hamster refused to run around in his little wheel. I believe Martin was also responsible for the rise of the Nazis due to his poor management of the Weimar Republic.

I gave a list of comments which inferred Martin was not overly enthused about working with Mr Whitaker in my prophetic "Whitaker - why he might stay" thread. I have to admit it did not get many likes or the critical acclaim it deserved but it (as we speak) appears to have stood the test of time. The US people are most probably not impressed with the lack of progress Martin has made and the sidle lining of two of his major signings Fisher and Sorinola and the Patterson fiasco. The US people planted a tank on Martin's lawn with Whitaker. Sort it out. You wanted a striker. Here he is. Reportedly the best player in league 1 with dazzling performances. So why exactly is he not good enough for Swansea with a contract until 2025? He is a bright lad and after a week of sulking should come round full of attitude and positive energy. RWB Soriniola can play there. Reserve keeper Webb. That is what the academy is for. Ollie Cooper was the forgotten man but slipped into the side like a duck to water.

Their relationship is not good. Whittaker was gutted to be called back, especially after Martin shunned him after he scored a hattrick, he thought he was unfairly treated and it’s hard to argue against. When he was recalled they had a conversation where Russell essentially told him he wasn’t in his plans but may play a small part. He didn’t show up to the bus and turned his phone off (Huw style) come match day. He wanted to move to a club where his manager had faith in him and where he can thrive. He has huge self belief, especially after this loan spell. So it’s now up to Martin to undo that because with the numbers he’s been left with, he needs to get him back onside, as we will probably need him.

Grant from WBA is off on 05:48 - Feb 1 with 2434 views | Sirjohnalot | Baggies view on Grant Genuinely hope you get a tune out of him because maybe it’ll help us recoup some of the money we spunked. He’s bad. Worst touch you’re likely to see, inexplicably slow, lazy, and he needs 5 clear cut chances before he can finally find the net. Oh, and don’t let him take pens!
Grant from WBA is off on 06:20 - Feb 1 with 2346 views | BillyChong | So after lengthy preparation (according to Martin and Winter) for the January window why did it come down to a mediocre Karlan Grant link a couple of hours before the deadline? Yet another window which sums up the lack of ambition and interest from the yanks.

Shocking isn't it!? To be fair, I think the guys at ground level and are at the club every week done their side of things, deal we're arranged within the limits given but at the final stages were stopped by the Americans. Heard there was one major one for a right back done very early in the window and a few others since......its becoming a regular thing with us as a club. Squad is thin, weaker at the end of the month than it was at the start and we are getting a reputation.......not even a couple of token loans to cover now! All in, we are better off by a tune of in and around 25k a week with wages! Good for the pockets that pay it that is. Previous windows have been bad but this one is right up there. Expect some noise towards the board on the weekend and a bagful of sympathy to fall on the management team. Poor effort from the board.

Didn’t you say regarding performance on the pitch, that we were awful before scrapping around in league 2 so to put where we are today into perspective then we are going well? Why aren’t you using the same about our transfer dealings this season? £2.5m spent when I remember us not spending anything for years in the bottom division. Do you see why this inconsistency in approach, is the basis for so much conflict? It’s not genuine, it’s done for other reasons.

Grant from WBA is off on 09:05 - Feb 1 with 1739 views | Badlands | Players chose other clubs. We don’t know why but reasons but hinted at have been proximity to their homes, more chance of playing and (speculation here) having spoken to or read about Paterson, Obafemi, Williams, Oko-Flex, Ogbeta, Garrick, Whittaker. Maybe we didn’t offer the price expected … just as we didn’t accept the first offer for Obafemi and Whittaker. Grant's transfer collapsed, it was suggested in the Midlands, because their loan of Omari Hutchinson failed at the last minute.
