I have just removed a thread with a video which linked ‘diversity’ to violence. I am giving a warning to all. Any postings like this in the future with this kind of reference will result in a ban.
This is not freedom of speech, it’s racism. Won’t be tolerated

I'm assuming it was one I posted showing a groups of kids attacking another group with a machete , at no point did my post contain anything in relation to colour sex or creed nor did I mention diversity , I posted it just to show how low our society is now heading .By the way I'm offended by a film clip still available on here showing someone being stamped on which has clearly racist undertones within its content

Yesterday saw the progress maesures at GCSE released. Incredible figures for those of Chinese or Asian ethnicity. Also a 1% increase for children from black ethnic backgrounds taking them into the 'better than average' section of the measure.
What a contibution these kids are going to make to the future of the country.
In fact, only two groups had a negative progress measure, pupils from a mixed background and white (white being by far the largest group of them all).
These outcomes aren't new for this year, they've been reflected for a generation.
Maybe instead of blaming immigrants for all our ills we should be looking a little closer to home.

I am staggered if that is the case. We need to wake up a this is what is going on,whether it diverse or not. Boundy was pointing out the violence out there.

You linked a tweet with the caption "diversity is our strength" in relation to an attack involving an ethnic minority. The racist element was pretty obvious.

To you it was ,not for all.
People are terrified of speaking their minds so let’s not pretend otherwise .

All opinions Not.
Fair enough if it has been genuinely missed, but it still doesn't change the fact that the twitter post that was linked had a pretty racist tone. And now its been deleted. Problem solved.
Racism doesn't equal speaking anyones mind either.

Then you must also note that the comments regarding the " hero" (in my and many others eyes) was the security guard who intervened . This event was reported even by the media in Australia , perhaps I should have used a different source to save the posters sensibilities , we live & learn

It is nothing to do with sensibilities, I deal with the most horrendous crap every day, there is very little that offends me. However this site gets viewed by a lot of people, and posts like that damage it's integrity and could lead to accusations of the site supporting racism, which it clearly does not

No, I am not terrified of anything. I will not have posts on this forum linking diversity to violence. Warning has been given. it's a simple as that
Most certainly, diversity can be a good thing, but it can also bring it's problems, such as cultural and religious differences, and many other things which obviously I'm not allowed to mention.
Only highlighting the good things about diversity whilst gagging any criticism, is taking away the fundamental right of people to express their opinions without fear of reprisals, something that free countries such as ours, have fought to uphold, unfortunately, some countries are still fighting for that very right.
I've been posting on this site since it started, I also posted on the old planet swans for many years, along with the swans Guestbook before that, I always try to abide by the rules (maybe that's why I've never been banned) and I will abide by the rules of this site.
But I don't have to like it, and I do have my concerns regarding what is deemed to be an acceptable post, and what is deemed to be unacceptable, I suspect that may depend on the moderators personal political leanings, and not what is thought to be acceptable by the poster.

I'll be honest, posting a link from twitter like that, is an easy mistake to make. You are more concentrated on the content, than the heading of it, I agree with what has been said, it certainly could be deemed racist if you study the words used, but a quick glance. before you share, I could have done the same without thinking twice.
Obviously from what you have said, that won't happen now, but my point is, I could have done it, without any thought of that 'diversity is our strength'

More than happy to answer this and I’ve no problem whatsoever with anyone criticising anything I do as a moderator. Always happy to take criticism and at times, when I’ve been wrong accept and learn from it.
On this point, I don’t believe I was wrong. Whatever the intention of the post, the title was ‘diversity ‘ and featured a video of someone who was not white on a video containing violence or the threat of violence. I’m sure that wasn’t the intention of the poster but the implication was stark.
As I’ve said before I’m trying to protect the interests of Keith’s charity partners, who wouldn’t want to, quite properly, be associated with a site that has a post like that and leaves it up there.
A secondary consideration is that people who do not post on this site may see that video, screen shot it and form the belief that this is a site that does not take action in regards posts such as that.
It’s got nothing to do with my personal political beliefs, I’ve spent my career when defending representing people who’s beliefs and attitudes towards others are diametrically opposed to mine, but I represent them nonetheless.
With that in mind, I would not remove posts due to something which may or may not align with my own thoughts.
Put yourself in my position, you’ve a website to protect with charitable interests which may be harmed by a post which, is arguably racist or certainly implies that diversity equals violence. What would you do ?
Always happy to be criticised but hope this explains why I deleted it

We would have to refine what diversity is for different groups. For many ,diversity is a sin .
At least we know where we are on here
We don’t have to like it and as we are told other sites available
It’s just the “ all opinions” mantra that rattles me Jon.
I’ve never believed it and you prove it …and that s fine as we know exactly where we are
