Anyone in to gazing at stuff ( NL don’t say anything ) I’ve just invested in one, it’s on its way via Amazon.ES next day delivery so will be here by Friday ish. The night sky here is relatively unpolluted by other standards, very bright daytimes, coast of light is the clue I suppose. I would be interested in any pointers etc.
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.
Haven't the patience myself but many on the sea front here have them. Not sure what they are viewing;the wind farms, gas terminals,Great Orme,Anglesey,IOM,Pennines or the Lakes. How much you pay Guv.?
We have binoculars and I bought a decent camera, not for the night sky but more for long walks in the country and taking pics of nature, animals mostly. In which case I can't offer any advice besides just do what you enjoy, if it's stargazing then why not!
I bought a fairly cheap but fairly decent zoom lens so I could get close ups of...well whatever. Some of the pictures I see online of all sorts of animals and insects are amazing.

Couple of hundred. Hopefully well spent !

Just think what you could see with a good telescope over there! I also wouldn't mind a week out of the rat race, camping miles from any "civilisation"
One of the side effects of this pandemic is, I can't handle crowds (maybe I shouldn't have bought season tickets?) and I prefer green spaces. It's just as well when we moved the new house had a fair sized garden!

I prefer dogs! I have a small goup of friends now, used to be very large when I played a lot of football, snooker, pool, darts...I was always in a pub/bar/club! Now I'm much more picky. There's 6/7 people I'll bother with, the others just faded out of my life and I'm happy with that.
Give me a large chunk of countryside, my dog and very few people and I'm happy. As soon as I get my new hip (and we're allowed to travel) so I can get out to the country more I'll be much happier. It'll be wife to work, son to school and off I'll go!
Maybe, if we can ever afford it, we'll put a summer house kind of thing out the garden and I'll get a decent telescope and stargaze too.
Talking of Astronomy, if you’ve ever wondered where Paul Whitehouse came up with character ideas for The Fast Show look no further than Sir Patrick Moore.
He was very, very drunk...
An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

About 25 years ago I did a tour of South Island of New Zealand, whilst travelling down the West Coast we stayed at Franz Joseph glacier. We came out of the pub 1 night, it was late but it was light on account of the stars. Never seen so many and always wanted to go back. One day maybe....

Get up the beacons on a clear night. It's amazing.
Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.
