| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Don’t suppose you could link me up a SI article on what exactly happened 🙏🙏🙏 Need to refresh my memory on the ins and outs of it all. I’ve tried the search on homepage, but there’s 354 articles that come up. I am searching, but my head is going to explode soon

This is my interpretation as I recall them. Patterson was on a two year deal with an option for a third year. At the time the player was on fire with Piroe and talk was of a new deal and a pay rise. In the run up to the end of his contract WBA expressed an interest and notional salaries were discussed well in excess of what Swansea were paying him. This was dependent on Patterson being a free transfer. Patterson was keen to move at the end of his deal. I am not clear if Swansea had discuss a new deal with Patterson. At this point Swansea informed Patterson that his deal had been extended on the same terms and if he wanted to go to WBA they must pay a transfer fee. WBA lost interest. The contract extension was only dependent on the club and did not need Patterson consent. This was because Patterson was already in his late 20s and his agent did not imagine another chunky deal assuming an extension was a 'no brainer'. Patterson than sulked and may have declined to pay for a spell. Martin who liked the player and if I recall correctly managed to get him a rise. Martin was sympathetic to the player claiming the player was fragile and needed care and tolerance . He was still terrible and nothing like the player he as previously. He lost his place to another troublesome character Obafemi who also had issues. These things can catch on like a virus. Clearly Patterson has given some thought to it over the summer and has come back refreshed and back in form. Well done to him for getting back to work. Whether he would accept a new one year deal? Who knows. I recall Mike Van De Horn telling Dutch TV he did not know if he was staying in Swansea after relegation. He was sufficiently well informed that Swansea had an option on him for an extra year. He stated very clearly. "Its up to them not me". Potter wanted to keep him. I would expect Wood understands the contract he signed. He was a failing player when he arrived at Swansea. He already knows they will extend his deal and hope for a big transfer fee if he does not sign a new deal. He is big getting stronger has good ball control and passing and very fast. Thanks. Tried that but only seems to come up with newspaper articles about that time. I would rather Indy reports, as they are closer to the action and know more. I’ll find it 🙏
