Well if that is the case I can only hope Duff can see him being value for that contract. In my opinion, he’s not shown it so far this season.

If that’s the case,then it’s a big risk.
Thus far, this season,it looks like a bad option .
He will need to knuckle down .
He can be lethal

Had very little service though he needs the ball played to his feet.

No point playing him up top, he needs to be deeper, from there he creates his own chances.

As WR has stated he needs to be played in a deeper role.

If we keep him, we don’t need to build the team around him, but we certainly need to accommodate him.

I think Cullen or Ginelly could probably play the role he’s got, but it’s an absolute waste of one of the best finishers in the division. It almost plays to his weaknesses.

In fairness he's not had much to feed off

A player with the value he has you would expect to stand out, he hasn't.

If he does sit behind a no.9 then either play 2 up top or ensure we play with wingers with one up top either way need to adapt the three at the back or play with full backsbecause Coventy look better in the middle of the park which is why we couldn't push forward with any purpose yesterday.

We’ve lost the midfield battle every league game this season. Duff knows that. I’m not sure how he will fix it, but I really don’t like the formation.

Change formation? Well there's 4-3-1-2. Piroe can play in the hole with Patino, Grimes and Fulton behind him but who goes up front with yates then? Would it be Cullen or Ginnelly?

I do like that, but I still can’t see Duff playing 4 at the back

He rarely deviated from what we’ve seen so far this season when at Barnsley. I would say possibly once.

Looks good & can flex into 4-3-2-1 with Yates up top running the channels with a clear give it 100% for 65/70 mins & if needed we’ll give you a break and bring on the big Ukrainian for the last 20 plus injury time (or Cullen).

That allows a double pivot behind Yates with Piroe plus one of Ginnelly or Cooper to connect better to the middle 3.

Can still work with Duff’s usual 5 at the back but then need to drop the middle 3 to 2 so runs the risk of being overrun in midfield - I guess can flex both ways based on opposition set-up & situation in the game.

Trouble is as fans we have seen over a number of years how our players like to play and how they have develop and we still have different opinions, managers have ideas on how they would like the team to play and sometimes the plan takes time to come together. With new players coming in it means us fans have to take time to reassess how we think the team can play also remembering the opposition know how we like to play and these days a lot of teams push a number of players forward to stop us playing rather than adopt the usual defensive "away from home" formation.

It now seems we have to use the counter attack option which would be more effective as seen when Manning played as a winger at the end of last season with three up front enabling quick progression up the field enabling us to get in behind the defence, at times last year we used Ntcham or Piroe as the fulcrum in the middle coming deep but to stretch the defence means you have to have a numbers of runners going beyond that fulcrum for most of this season the only person going beyond that fulcrum has been Yates getting isolated and yet when Ashby pushed up high the speed of the attack caught the defence out leading to our goal.
I think we know how Duff wants to play that option in contrast to how Martin played because Martin didn't think he had the forwards to do it and resorted to using Manning further up the field. I think Duff has the forwards to carry out the counter attack but with all the in and out has been unable to get the right balance of counter attacking play and playing effectively to get up park when in possession of the ball deep in our half.
At time last season and even at the beginning of this season we seem to have lots of players out wide and very little in the middle of the park is that because of the poor quality of the players in the middle of the park as has been suggested or poor formations adopted as also has been suggested.
For me if teams are pushing up on us 4-3-3 seems the best option with one of the forwards dropping deep to link up play, Piroe, Yates, Ginnelly, Kuharevich or Cullen seem like capable options with the other two pushing forward.
If teams drop off then our 11 has to adapt.
