Many have said that we have a top 6 team.
Never in a million years.
How many, if we got promoted, would be able to cut it in the Premier league. One ? Two at most.
Todays team for example -
Fisher - League 1 player
Latibeudiere - Bottom half Champioship
Manning - Mid table Championship
Cabango - Mid table Chapmpionship
Wood - Mid Table Champioship
Cooper Mid table Championship, will improve.
Grimes - Top half Championship
Sorinola - Bottom half Championship
Jay Fulton - Top,half Championship
Luke Cundle - Top half Championship
Joel Piroe - Botton third Premier/ top third Championship

If anyone thinks they are better than that say so.
I am basing it on this seasons performances. I have only attended 16 games this season but have seen enough to justify the above. We have a team of bang average players.
We have sold everyone worth anything, Obafemi and Piroe will be next, if the owners get £6 - £8 million for the pair they will be happy.

A bleak future awaits.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

You're being very generous to Sorinola there.

I don't see it in Cooper, I just don't, the rest Piroe apart are so so or less, Ntcham as been a massive disappointment for me, brilliant at Celtic though, under a different manager who knows.
But Martin isn't getting the best out of any of them for me. He's got to go, if we look back in our history there's no way on earth he would still be here, its incredible that he is.

Cooper, Manning, Piroe, Olivier, Grimes, Benda ….

Two different sets of Boro fans walking towards the station thought our first half was one of the best they'd seen against them this season. They said our attack always looked dangerous.
Then, second half … what happened? Shape and style went out of the window especially after their equaliser.
They thought Ntcham was the only player good enough to get into their team.

Ntcham is the most hit and miss player in the squad for me, then again I only saw the last 30/25mins, cause I watched the Rugby.

Think you have been way too generous there

Fisher - League 1 player at best
Latibeudiere - League 2 or lower
Manning - Championship
Cabango - League 1
Wood - League 1
Cooper - needs to improve to justify Championship
Grimes - Championship
Sorinola - League 1 or 2
Jay Fulton - Championship
Luke Cundle - Championship
Joel Piroe - Championship

Premier League quality - none

Piroe & Grimes possibly the only 2 that we would get a fee for

I'm not sure basing it on Martins ludicrous "project" is fair on some of them. Mainly the centre halves, they just aren't cut out to play tiki taka around our box, as more natural defenders as Monk was used im confident they would be much improved.
I'm not saying we have a team to romp the league, but this squad in my opinion should be well in the conversation for playoff places. Yet we are almost flirting relegation.
Ive tried to refrain from judging too many of the players as under a new manager they might turn out to be better.

It's the lack of saleable assets that is really concerning.
We need to sell each summer to fund any purchases and apart from Piroe the cupboard is bare.
Each of Martins signings are arguably now worth less than what we paid.
Darling was last summers big investment, would we get £1.5m for a player who is mostly used as a sub?
Last winters big signing, Fisher, we would struggle to move on for a fee.
If we sell Piroe to fund more woeful Martin signings then we could be in big trouble next season.
The club have to have a set up that nurtures new talent each season. Martin is failing dismally at it.

I don't get the hype with Oli Cooper, I see someone who does a lot of running about with little quality. That chance he had first half, you know if he had 100 chances at it he wouldn't score.

The only saleable asset is Joel Piroe. The cupboards are bare now. Need a new guy in charge to rip up this squad and start again.

Even when you know, you never know?

Transfermarkt ( a decent comparison site) lists our three highest value players
Piroe €6 million
Grimes €6 million
Cabango €8 million

As an old centre half and left back who played in goal for lower level sides I can honestly say Wood and Cabango are amazing to keep making the effort when they have Fisher in goal, our midfield in front and Martin on the sidelines.

I think the thought on the squad has been made on rumoured wages and transfer spend.......things on paper rather than what we all see with our own eyes.

I have constantly said that this squad is not a top 6 one, we are a mid table and without doubt are underachieving as it stands but the narrative that we are a top 6 team based on rumoured wages and transfer spend is naive.

I see an average squad and a young manager who is struggling. I see a summer where we can really press the reset button.........chance to bring in a number of new players and possibly a new face at the helm.

Top 10 side without any shadow of a doubt, even in its current guise.

Not many teams outside the top 10 can boast such players as Piroe, (Obafemi - still a Swan), Grimes, Ntcham, Darling, Allen, Cabango, Fulton, Paterson and have young stars like Cooper.

I am looking forward to next season immensely with a decent chance of a new manager with a new and refined approach. Anyone of note would get this side playing the way that they should be.

Once we add some key players in key positions then we are top 6 and have no doubt the owners will continue to put millions into the transfer market as they have done almost every season to date.

There is one issue and one issue alone with the way things are, and that’s the way we are made to play and the key positions in modern football that we no longer are able to utilise because they don’t fit the centrally aligned system.

Boro showed what a powerful and mobile front 3 can do in the modern game. Under Martin, we sacrifice those key positions for more central midfielders… by design.

It's a situation that can go either way but it's a decent opportunity to press the reset button and push on for sure.

I think the important thing would be, if they are planning for it is to get rid of Martin now, put someone in with experience for the time being and work hard on the next 2 months of getting right man in at the end of the season and give him a whole summer.

As it's going, the Americans are sitting on their hands and I can see a shit show already developing during to their lack of being proactive.

All said, I still think Martin can do something down the line but presently I think a parting of the ways is needed.

Spot on!
If it gets left until the summer then we will be playing catch up for most of next season.
Get shot now and bring in someone for the last few games.

No point in doing it now, unless there is someone we want long term who is available now and willing to come.

It’s a massive decision and can’t be rushed, especially when it’s only to put a bit of gloss on a season that can’t go anywhere anyway.

Summer is when it makes most sense.

You don’t read it because it doesn’t support your assessment.
Compared with Rodon at the same age Cabango is miles better …
Rodon - 22 9 months 52 senior appearances 0 goals 1 assist
Cabango- 22 10 months 186 senior appearances 7 goals 3 assists
Independent rating career average both on 6.79 but Rodon played in his preferred position with strong and experienced players alongside and decent goalkeepers (admittedly some games at a higher level). Cabango rarely plays in his preferred position and has, for some time, been the 'senior' player in the defence.
In terms of player involvement (stats too detailed to summarise) Cabango is getting through far more work than Rodon, probably because of the overall team performance.
Ashley Williams was still playing League 2 at that age.
Wood, who I didn’t rate particularly, has improved and will probably be a better player than either home product when he approaches 23.
All our players are suffering from being coached by Martin.
As for watching the players, I do and having played in defence for 15 season season back in the day I appreciate how much work individual players get through and the frustrations they must feel in this set up. (Senior leagues fro 13 up to semi-pro while holding down a full time job).
So 'mush' I really do have some insight.

I think that's pretty clear, we are on course to do what the Americans have done so well in the past......waste time rather than be proactive.

Doesn't matter how good an individual player is if the team isn't organised to play to each players strength.
Let's play Cabango as a centre forward and see if he is a champship player there. Bit extreme but has been happening throughout Martin's tenure, players out of position and been asked to do what they are struggling to do.
Sorinola being asked to go on the wing, receiving the ball at a stand still being asked to take on fullbacks with pace or guile he does not have.

You'd think by now that people would understand how football works. The idea that players can be neatly filed into "League One Standard, League Two standard" is ridiculously simplistic.

By any measure Garry Monk was not a technically gifted player, yet in a well organised defence, playing to an obvious plan under managers who knew what they were doing he captained us into the Premier League. That entire team was greater than the sum of its parts.

At the moment we have a team no less capable than a lot of others in this division, but they're being coached by an arrogant pillock more interested in making his plan work and proving himself as good as he obviously thinks he is.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
