Now why don't we do that 👍

I regularly litter pick and the amount of fast food packaging is beyond a joke.

Add a tax to the likes of MC D Gregg's and pay for litter picking

It's a tediously typical response from some Government types that the answer to any problem is more tax. Why should private companies be forced to pay to clean up after filthy customers? Where do you draw the line? If someone leave an empty Coke can somewhere do Coca Cola have to foot the bill?

Ludicrous nonsense.

The answer is quite simple. Hire litter wardens. Give them powers of arrest. Anyone caught dropping litter of any type or volume should have to do 1000 hours of community service litter picking. 2000 hours for a second offence and so on.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

and maybe educate parents who in turn educate their kids that its not alright to dump their waste , I live near a school and on one side there's a public footpath which has no defining barrier/fence and to me seems to form part of the school grounds , I walk up there daily and on some days its like strolling through Tir John tip , theres no sense of pride any more of where people live , constant rubbish everywhere which is a surprise when considering this generation have been inundated with what the future holds without recycling etc . Theres not a bin in sight on the school grounds but plenty of waste generated .

Abolutely, instead of punishing companies and therefore the innocent customers with hgher prices, punish the guilty which is as it should be.

Have these litter wardens and have them wearing cameras so the guilty are identified and give them the power to fine people £100 per offence and the power to arrest them if they won't pay. The state we are in they'll be self funding.

Just walk past a bakery, any small shop really and the customers always dump their rubbish ight outside, even when there is a bin right there.

People are disgusting.

And this is why I worry about labour supporters, what a bizarre idea.

I have a russel hobbs microwave out the kitchen, if it conks out and I fly tip it round the corner, fine russel hobbs, that will solve everything.

My take is that we should be fining people who drop little, while the scumbags who fly tip large amounts of waste get their vehicles confiscated and jail.

I’d also introduce work for the dole, people would either be expected to attend mandatory litter picks etc or education/ training. This would serve to ensure you don’t put anything out if you don’t put anything in and it would prevent people hobbling and claiming dole.

People who can’t work because of illness would be exempt and supported.

Why would unemployed people have to pick up other peoples rubbish? What has it got to do with them?

What a spiffing idea, get made redundant, make a claim for universal credit, and then spend your days picking up other peoples rubbish.

That's why Tory voters are basically thick
An item like a microwave put a deposit on it set at a price at that time it would cost to recycle the purchaser has to keep the paper work physically or on line when it's time to get rid of item you contact Russell Hobbs or the store you purchased from to arrange recycling.

If the item is recycled in an appropriate manner you're name is then removed from the database as you have done the right thing and if that person doesn't do the right thing then the serial number of the device can be checked and that person is then investigated for illegal tipping

Which creates vast new administrative requirements and even more costs to be pushed onto the consumer and/or taxpayer.

There are already laws to deal with littering. There is no need for new ones. Just enforce the existing legislation properly.

Because there are far too many people in this country who think they can have something for nothing.

It’s a great idea maybe the scroungers could become litter wardens might give them a bit of pride in themselves & their community.

The looney lefties believe we have a money tree in this country.

That is a different story.

I can't understand why anyone would say, leave the doleys pick up the rubbish, for me that just means you have a gripe against them. It's not actually solving anything.

I have, without massively overcomplicating a simple issue, which you have done.

But I would spend a few hours more thinking about it first.

You're missing the point, to get benefits people would have to do community service such as litter picking, that's what he's saying.

It has been suggested by government before but was shouted down.

The cost to buy would still rise and that cost would be passed on to the buyers, you and me, Jim.

If you are happy to pay more to solve a problem you don't create (I would hope) then well done to you but personally I would rather not have to spend more of MY money to solve a problem I don't create.

We are already paying far too much tax.

Personally I think being unemployed is punishment enough, from personal experience it's a breeze being in work, than trying to survive on universal credit. One of the hardest things I've been through.

If we go down that route, what's next? If this is to do with people being a burden on society, well so are obese people, they must cost the country loads, why not anyone half a stone overweight be forced to litter pick, and they could lose a few pounds at the same time, winner winner chicken dinner.
