Mental country we live in.

This started in 2016 with blame/fear of foreigners and people ends with austerity on top of austerity and a crippled economy.

Well done folks👍🏻.

At least there’s no cap on bankers’ bonuses, eh?

Yes let’s continue to blame literally everything on brexit. Saves us having to use our brains to analyse the real reasons.

The Conservatives purged a lot the Remainers at the last election, but some of the shenanigans we’re witnessing have their roots in Brexit. The Conservative Party is currently riddled with different factions and Truss’s budget came from the far right of the party - the ERG ideology.

Braverman referenced immigration in her resignation letter, it was a key factor in Brexit. There are other reasons, but the numerous divisions and rank incompetence in the Conservative Party are key drivers in what we’re seeing now.

Said to have been a row between Truss and Braverman last night over immigration and Braverman’s attitude, Truss wants to bring more immigration in.

If there is proof of MPs being physically forced into voting no..opens up a whole can of worms. Glad to see my MP abstained

It’s daft to blame everything on Brexit, I agree.

To say that no problems have been caused by Brexit is equally daft.

We’ve the ethics committee investigating him soon plus they’ll need a unity candidate and he isn’t it. They can’t have another leadership vote, they can’t agree on an MP, the party is too split. In a week, the Chancellor and the HS have gone. Amazing from such a huge majority to tearing each other apart

Lol, is this an attempt at satire? If so bravo!!!!!

I suspect though, sadly, it’s more likely a brexiteer who has excrement in their eyes, ears and mouth.

Seriously interested in why what's happened over the past 3 years is purely down to Brexit ?

There is a slight problem with a trading nation choosing to leave its biggest market without a plan.

Covid did damage, but the governments own figures say Brexit did twice as much damage.
When Brexit hit reality it was always going to be that project fear was project fact.

The man, Johnson, who won Brexit by lies became PM.
When a clown moves into a palace, the clown does not become a king. Rather the palace becomes a circus. That is what we are seeing.
Stong and stable, my arse.

Brexit has already chewed up Cameron, May, Johnson and now Truss.
Plus any number of senior ministers.
Brexit has pushed Scotland, the north of Ireland, and even docile Wales towards Indy.

Layer on the global issues of Putin and the cost of living crises then its a total disaster.

This will remind you of a proper uk government.

It’s not.

But what’s happened since 2016 certainly has a lot to do with the vote.

Seems labour's anti franking bill cannot get backing. It was defeated by over 90 votes when the government only has a majority of 80.

That of course means even with some Conservatives abstaining some Labour or even SNP MPs voted against Starmer.

You still have not accepted the democratic results of the voters of the UK and Wales who voted to leave.

Adults of course realise the global supply shortage was triggered by the end of Covoid and global inflation was the result.
The war in Ukraine also led to the global energy crisis.

Still if it makes you happy blame Brexit meanwhile the UK continues to help Europe by exporting around 15% of our daily electricity generation particularly to France which seems not to bother with any tiresome paperwork for the energy it imports.

Have you seen the September inflation rate for the EU it is 10.9%. Even worse than the UK's 10.1%. Is the higher inflation rate and higher unemployment rate in the EU (6%) due to Brexit?

I think the last couple of weeks have clearly shown how dangerous politics is and voting to "give someone else a go" can turn out. We are in a worse state now than before the leadership changed.

Sunak clearly stated in his leadership battle the pitfalls of of what Truss was setting out and has been proved right. IMO Sunak will be PM by Christmas. If this does happen and he stabilises things with a little improvement, the polls will close dramatically. I wouldn't be so confident then if I was a Labour supporter.

We see a one sided view living in South Wales as it is a Labour stronghold and it is reflected on this board, travelling around the country I see a different viewpoint. Currently a common opinion is "we got rid of the last lot for eating cake after work and now look at the mess we are in". If some sort of stability returns when Truss goes I'm not convinced the electorate in the key seats will want to trust Labour. The election could be a lot closer than some think.

The next couple of days are going to be very dramatic.

The bill's introduction was nothing really to to with fracking, it was to further expose the shambles that is the Conservative party.

Job done.

To be honest there are always factions, and factins within factions. The tory party had some deep divisins going into the brexit vote. That just openee the door for the complete chancer that is Boris Johnson. He didn't pick a side until he was certain he could use it to his advantage, he saw which way the wind was blowing and finally picked a side.

I think Bojo caused even more division, he is literally political marmite, there doesn't seem to be much middle ground, love him or hate him. As we are seeing now though, although he was/is entirely unfit to be PM he was still a better option than Truss! For all the bad things (true things!) we can say about Bojo, Truss takes incompetence and stupidity to new heights, definitely a person promoted above her ability and not fit to be in the cabinet never mind in charge. It's what you get when people like Bojo promote weak minded supplicants, only there because they will follow without uestion no matter what. As I called them "Bojo's brown nosers" were the most ill suited people to be in cabinet, anyone with any ability or spine was dismissed making the govt more of a dictatorship.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Good post.
Living in South Wales especially the likes of Swansea and Nooport is living in a socialist bubble.
Many in England hate Labour,if I can use that word. Hate the party with a passion .

To have an objective view you need to discus thing outside your bubble. People commonly speak to people of the same view and accept this as gospel, its not.

Pre Brexit I spent a lot of time working throughout the country and spoke to many people regarding Brexit, I knew 100% what the outcome of the vote would be. I spend time in Scotland and the SNP do not have the mandate they are counting on. Just by speaking and listening to people over all the country and walks of society you get a balanced view, my opinions my well be different but you can judge the general feel of the nation.

Remember its the marginals that will decide the next election not the South of England or Wales.

It’s such a lazy argument though isn’t it? It’s almost a Pavlovian response for a certain type of person. Something bad has happened now I must fall over myself to link it somehow to brexit and it doesn’t matter how tenuous that link is by god I’ll find a way.

It’s a reflex action, you gag and regurgitate it fully undigested without even thinking.

The tories penchant for gross incompetence, electing people above their stations for their own petty interests and stabbing each other in the back predates brexit and will exist many years into the future regardless of whether we are in the EU or not.

You cannot deny that Brexit is an absolute shambles though can you?
It's not the cause of all of the problems, but a combination of Brexit and the power hungry incompetent Tories.
They have used Brexit as ample opportunity to line pockets and punish ordinary people.
