Swansea City ready for low baller Joel Piroe bids 23rd Aug 2022 19:57
Swansea City are readying themselves for bids for their out of form striker Joel Piroe. Sources we speak to close to the club have stated there is a genuine belief that bids far short of what the club would accept will be made in the coming week. And they also believe half of the eighteen million pounds the swans want may well turn the majority owners heads. 1

Has to be a minimum £12m plus at least £6m add ons.
Anything less will be another kick in the teeth from the owners to the fans.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

So depressing, what’s going to happen when we haven’t got two £10m plus players to sell ?

Say what you like about Jenkins he new how to get a good deal for a player.

This lot on the other hand do tend to cave in fairly easily.

If we are honest with ourselves the club needs freshening up owners manager and playing staff

They are being sensible. Long term financial security of the club, can’t be gambled away but if we go down anyway….

I guess if that happens at least we will be in a better financial position than say Cardiff

Yes I am all for sustainability.

But there does seem to be a black cloud hanging over the club at the moment.

I can't be the only one who wishes the season was starting this weekend.

I will be at the game Saturday hoping for better things.
Can't be worse than Luton surely.

Jenkins valued Ben Davies at a third of the price of Luke Shaw. The current lot held out for £45m for Sigurdsson.

and you think they care what we think , a couple of million a year in the black makes a return on their "investment" all the more palatable

Really enjoyed Blackpool and Rotherham, that left me so flat. Not angry, just flat.

Examples please?

James, Rodon, McBurnie, were all good value deals in hindsight. McBurnie has bombed Rodon has struggled and James is reportedly worth £20m and Swansea sold him for £15m.

Downes has been told to up his game at a whopping £14m valuation.

Roberts was in his last year and a low baller and Lowe was too cheap. However these sales funded Piroe and Obafemi. Wheeling and dealing and good trading.

Generally selling is not an issue for Swansea. The problem is incomings. Sorinola looks at the moment a dud added to Bennett, Fisher maybe. Swansea have not got to grips with recruitment since after 2017 when Carlos C took charge.

A player who's form dips because of transfer speculation is one that some clubs would stray well v clear of. He has a lot out prove with out issues of motivation and commitment. Patterson comes to mind also on this front. No one would pay a fee for him despite the best form of his life.

Any offer around the £9-10m with a few addons and he is gone.
He looks like a player who was told "one good season and you'll be in the Prem.", it hasn't happened so far and he isn't fancying it. Possibly thinks the club have priced him out of it.

Only if we panic and undervalue him, as many fans seem to be doing.

Jenkins was involved in the swap deal Davies and Vorm for Sigurddson.

He was also the CEO when we sold Sigurddson for 42.5m.
Where he failed spectacularly was how that money got spent.

Also his last play was to reject the Leeds offer for Dan James.
We then went onto sell him for 15m later on.

It is claimed that his last play was to reject the James deal. Given his track record it's a claim that I have a hard time believing. Jenkins was no longer in total control when we sold Sigurdsson. If he had been Siggy would have gone for £30m tops. Just like when he caved and sold Bony for about £10m less than we should have got.

As I've said many times, the current ownership have a lot to answer for, but I don't see the sense in making things up to add more fuel to the fire. Jenkins was always weak in transfer negotiations. We have generally held out for much higher fees since 2016 than we did before.

Not making anything up Jenkins was the CEO for you to say that price was not down to him is conjecture. I am happy that the club is run in a sensible sustainable way by the way.

Just to add though the timing of the Sigurdsson deal was not great dragged on throughout the summer and we then panicked and wasted the money.

Traditionally though we have always had good prices for our players it's the buying where we are failing.

The last 10 plus years we have been one of the most successful clubs in the transfer market. We just went off the rails towards the end of our premier league era resigning players like Bony and Ayew . We should have stuck to our principals even in the premier league and bought young with potential, it was always inevitable we would go down but it wasn't worth risking the finances. It's still a mystery, why clubs run the risk financial ruin paying these over the top wages. The premier league is stage any young footballer would like to showcase their talents even on low wages.

Even when you know, you never know?

Bony was clearly is terrible signing. It is strange that at the time there were serious reservations from fans. Ledbetter who kept a very low profile was head of recruitment under HJ and gave the club too many duds amongst some strong signings. Tabanou, Bony, Eder, Clucas. The recruitment at academy level was outstanding though with James McBurnie , Byers etc

I groaned when I saw Morgan Fox was linked, All reports on him are unfavourable.

You are a misguided fan that has a grudge against Jenkins. Jenkins ran the club impeccably for 15 years the greatest years of the clubs history.

Fans dislike the man on the basis of one administration failing in 15 years and a perceived mistreatment of the Supporters Trust. The same Supporters Trust that led their member up a long winding and expensive six year path to obscurity and surender. The myth fans have bought in to ran out of gas and was fake.

Shamefully they have

a) invested less in Swansea city than their investment in London advisors.
b) Probably put less cash into the club than a famous US actress
c) Taken over 2 times possibly 4 times more money out of the club than they ever put in.

Now you are suggesting Swansea's £28m for Bony was £10m short. Swansea are trying to recreate the successful years. Jenkins himself recreated it with Potter but was chased out by the fans and the Trust. Given time he would have got it right. It was not so easy as everyone is painfully finding out.

Who cares I post what I believe. I told you 6 years ago the Trust were performing poorly. Chief called me all sorts. Trust supporters now are very thin n the ground after their humiliating surrender.

The only thing they can do now is change their ways and volunteer £250,000+ into the club coffers by buying new shares in the Convertible loan note. I would respect that actually.

They appear to have no protection against inflation. It was and is a far bigger issue the dilution.
