And Martin admitted his side's play was often too slow as they were undone on the counter attack.
"Punished for mistakes and small details, moments not quite good enough," he said. "We had so much control, we make a mistake in the first half. Yes, we want it to be quicker, but we're playing against a team that have put loads of men behind the ball. We have to do a bit of work on that.
"We make a mistake, we follow it up with another another mistake. I said a couple of weeks ago about how we react to mistakes will define what we do, and it defined it today.
"We wanted more in the first half. They were getting a little more open, but it was really tight. Second half, they came out with good energy and we had good chances and then concede the second goal. It can't happen.
"Then, the third goal, we lose the ball in the middle of the pitch. They shouldn't score from there, but he does. There was so much good stuff still, I'll get criticised for [saying] that, and we have so many young men who need to learn quickly.
"We have to make more of the dominance of the ball. There wasn't enough ball speed in the first half or enough runs to threaten their backline.
"It's something we need to work on. We'll look at that for sure. Now it's up to us and the guys to work as hard as they continue to work."
Defeat represented a significant blow for the Swans, particularly for the Jack Army who had high hopes ahead of the campaign.
And Martin admitted his side's style of play attracted criticism from those in the Blackburn dug-out.
"It wasn't a lack of effort today," added the Swans boss. "The way we play isn't always going to please everyone. I think pretty much everyone out of Swansea hates it because they're desperate to stop it and beat it.
"Even a few comments from their bench towards it tells me the mentality towards it because we dare to try and control things and pass the ball. That's their prerogative. Ours is to try and control and improve people, bring the best version of ourselves.
"I really admire the lads sticking to it when it did get a little bit tetchy. I understand that.
"Expectancy has gone up from last season, we've had more time to work with the players. We need to stick together, work really hard and try to find solutions to the problems we faced today."
When asked if it was a criticism of Swansea's play, the head coach responded: "Yeah or an opinion of us as people which really doesn’t bother me because they don’t know me one bit, but it’s what you get when you play a certain way, a certain style of football here in the Championship.
“We have to make sure we are successful. Everyone is entitled their opinion on football, right. If someone likes a different style of football to me, I don’t have an opinion on that, especially if I don’t know them.
“Everyone’s entitled to do what they want to do, but for some reason the way we do it really p***** people off.”
In response to Martin's comments, Blackburn boss Tomasson said: "I think they played a good football game so I have nothing to complain about regarding that. We played against a good side today who are strong on the ball so that's why I chose to control the game out of possession."
Swansea return to action in the Carabao Cup against Oxford United on Tuesday night.
He's clearly rattled. It seems like the beginning of the end for me tbh....
He knows he has to find a way to win or he is toast. How can teams consistently score 3 goals from 4 chances or 2 goals from 3 chances week on week?
Tough guy defenders like Roberts and Bidwell have gone and no effort made to replace them. They were prepared to get hurt. Sorinola and Manning are not suitable replacements.
At present there are no signs of wins or even progress. Martin has talked the strategy now has to deliver it.

It was the same problem last season. Slow in thought, slow to move the ball, not giving options to the man on the ball and lacking pace.
When we play the ball quickly to players moving off the ball we look dangerous. When we allow sides to reset their shape and slowly move the ball into a congested centre of the pitch we always look likely to have a break against us.
That is the second strangest post match interview I’ve seen from a swansea manager since last season where he blamed the grass and the bus journey.
He is so egotistical and deluded it’s literally insane. Last season he was saying how all the other managers come up to him after the game and tell him how hard it is to play them…. WE CAME 15th!! Clearly wasn’t that hard.
Now he’s going on about comments from the opposition bench when we get utterly destroyed 3-0. They are laughing at you Russell, not admiring you or being jealous of you. You play in the most bizarre, ineffective way that tries to destroy the game and nick it when they get tired - it’s insulting.
That’s why you get the comments you do. Not because your system is good, you deluded charlatan.
THIS STYLE HAS NEVER WORKED ANYWHERE.
At what point does that sink in?

We have converse options but maintain a degree of respect, and that’s a stronger bond than anything superfluous that we read on other threads. I put that interview up there with the Hollins nonsense of old.
If we get a hiding at Blackpool, I fear he will be right on the edge.
A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

Of course, I don’t understand your support of this system (to say the least) but I respect your right to and your view as a whole, I don’t agree with it, but respect it.
The only conflicts I have with those on the other side of the RM debate is when they call into question someone’s fan status as a result of the very valid critique, something you do not do. Also when they twist reality to state that we should expect rubbish because we were rubbish 25 years ago “so it’s okay”… something you also do not do.
As you are aware, before we went on our run last year there were serious conversations had at boardroom level. I have no doubt those same conversations are being had as we speak but with far greater vigour, especially when we may now be getting an influx of cash with a player exit potentially on the horizon.
We may very well have the financial means to get rid soon.

Those are his words but it seems to me everybody outside Swansea loves it because we are easy to play against. Rotherham are rubbish and could have beaten us, Blackburn are bang average and gave us a lesson in how to control a game out of possession, something Cooper is good at too.
Then he said its something they need to work on....WTF? WTF have they been doing then? Playing tiddlywinks?

Reminds me of the geeky teenage kid in school who comes to school in a Batman outfit, then genuinely thinks those that take the mick are doing so because “they are just jealous” of such a wonderful outfit.
He’s clearly surrounded himself with enablers and yes men (which may explain Tate getting ousted) and lives in his own bubble where the football league revolves around him and his bizarre ideas.
Instead of recognising the fact people are calling it out for being awful he genuinely takes that as people getting annoyed because it’s so good.
It’s next level delusion. He really has issues, not being facetious there either.

I couldn’t watch the game today but judging by the comments I’ve already seen the match 50-odd times already. Martin’s comments really are deluded…he does sound as if he’s feeling the backlash, as stubborn as he is to change anything.
I said this a couple of times last season, but I firmly believe that he’s playing with this aggressive, fairly unique style of possession football in the lower leagues in the hope that a Premier League club picks him up thinking of the wonders he could achieve with incredibly expensive footballers. He clearly struggles with achieving any form of success, so this is the only way to get recognised. Changing his ‘process’ means that he will likely not achieve anything as well as blending in with all of the other management styles.
I would genuinely take any (or most) managers over him right now, and I don’t say that flippantly. We need someone who can adapt to the opposition (isn’t that football management 101?) and play to our players’ strengths.

I didn't watch game yesterday either, other family members pinched my season tickets(I thank the lord).
Its judgement time now for Russell, maybe a touch early for the sack. I do worry if they do sack him, that the balance of the squad is awful, well stocked up on central defenders and defensive midfielders, but so thin in all other areas. The only sympathy I do have for him is the desperately need of a right wing back. Keep playing Lati there and we won't pick up many points. I honestly think we badly missing Wolf and Christie and they weren't exactly braking down trees.
Hopefully there will be significant movement in both directions in the transfer market and more importantly Russell gets a tune going.
Keeping the football does not mean you are controlling anything,, teams are happy to watch us pass from side to side so slowly it sends the fans to sleep.

You need to mix our play up otherwise your toast.
He has been doing the same thing for the 3 seasons he has been a manager. I can't see it changing.

David Brents barmy army.
That post match presser was very odd he won't change so this is only going to go one way now.

Manning crossing yesterday was pitiful. He hit it to the left side of the goal twice. Sh*te
Each time I go to Bedd - au........................
I see Perchy's resignation couldn't stand up to his desire to make the most of yesterday.
Disgusting.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
