And a few sides will catch a right hiding this season as we improve.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

2nd half was brilliant ball possession, and stretched them from side to side, and created numerous chances.

Could have won it easily at the end

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Then maybe the team that finished today should be our starting 11?

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

The second half line up was closer to what most fans would have chosen to start the game.
Would we have sneaked a win if the ref hadn’t failed to send of the Luton player?
Even more violent than a 1970 Leeds v Chelsea assault.

That was assault the like of which we've not seen since the Leeds of the 70s.

Completely agree, Raynor.

The scoreline really flattered Luton in the first half - Berry goal off a throw-in was superbly taken, soft penalty, poor defending - but it definitely wasn’t a good reflection of us, either. It was a very poor half of football, but Luton were lucky to see so many chances go in the back of the net.

Not the incisive type of football we played the last two matches and the second half, and we allowed Luton to get away with pressing us so high up the pitch by not moving the ball quicker at key moments. We get into midfield and their final third faster with quicker ball movement, what Martin’s system requires, and they get caught out a few times and are more hesitant to press high, like we saw in the second half. We didn’t do a good job of that, and it clearly gave them the confidence to continue and it resulted in some poor play from us.

The thing is, though, no matter how bad it was overall, we controlled the ball with possession and forced Luton to run themselves into the ground, resulting in them having no energy in the second half and the dynamic football we saw then. Like you say, we continued to play possession football, moving the ball quicker and more effectively, and Luton just couldn’t keep up. The cracks opened up, and the floodgates broke. This is a major component of Martin’s system, essentially running the other team to death, and then taking advantage of the big pockets of space that open up more and more as the game progresses.

People can blame Martin and the players for the poor first half performance, but they also have to acclaim them for the remarkable second half. The gameplan is never to give up three goals to start a match, but it is a big part to open up the opposition midfield and defence through patient build-up play, progressive passing and dominating possession.
