This afternoon Martin stated his position with players is that he has to assess who is staying long term before adjusting his squad numbers further. This a few days after stating very clearly he was looking at the free agent market. 0 Latest update from Russell Martin, click above Subscribe to us on Twitter below ðŸ‘

Agents are calling Swansea City every day - And not just one person, there are m on 17:56 - Sep 15 with 305 views | Rock | Great article, but just reading between the lines a bit with Martin’s quotes I think he’s being a bit coy about Brady, and for good reason. It would make little sense to publicly state we were in negotiations with anyone specifically, which is why managers don’t do it until the deal is almost literally signed. Even then, it’s rarely discussed until after the official tweet, announcement, etc. But Martin stated MK Dons signed players he knew, which he clearly knows Brady. Check. He then goes on to praise Brady, all valid because he’s a really good player, which could certainly be viewed as sweet-talking him. Check. He then continuously says “at the moment” which would imply that things could change, and as we saw in the window, very quickly with our club and football in general right now. So many moving pieces because of the pandemic and finances that it’s impossible to know what will actually end up happening, but this one looks like it has legs and will seem that way until Brady signs with his next club. Honestly, would be a great signing at the right price, he ticks a lot of boxes for us and would add a real quality experienced head to our attack, which is something we are clearly lacking at the moment. I would imagine salary might be a bit of an issue, reportedly on around £30k at Burnley, but players are aware wages are down massively, especially in the Championship. Reports are that Gary Cahill’s wages were close to £80k at Palace, and he signed for Bournemouth for £20k, so we could probably make something work within our budget. Playing time might be the bigger requirement for Brady at this point, and I think he’d see a lot of that with us. Last bit, which might be the key to the whole thing, Brady’s agent, 10Ten Football, just so happens to be Martin’s and Matthew Gill’s agent, as well. Rosenior and Warburton too, but Derby are skint, so QPR might be the other reasonable shout. They look a very good team this season and they’ve got a strong squad so pros and cons either way for him. Better chance at promotion with them, but more competition for minutes. We’ll see what happens. | | | |
