Everyone talks about them not backing the managers, RM in this case. And he was shown to be 100% correct. They've appointed all these managers because in their opinion they were good managers who knew what they were doing. And three of the four - Cooper, Potter and RM - proved how good they were after leaving (RM is in the process of doing it but you know what I mean). I know Potter was a slightly different situation with Brighton coming in for him (although wasn't there a big delay in offering him a better contract which may have persuaded him to stay ?) but both Cooper and RM were not backed. But in not backing the managers they were not backing themselves. They weren't willing to back their own judgement. Everyone talks about how successful they are in business, how they've made lots of money so they must be good businessmen but how are they good businessmen if they don't back their own judgement.

It’s been (relatively) on the cheap with profits made from any player over a million to date. Includes Obafemi, Downes, Piroe etc … combined profit after the initial purchase is in the region of 22 million at least, most likely more. When they’ve been advised to invest more than usual it pays off. Not so sure with Yates or Tymon time will tell. But this is another example of not learning from experience, in this case positive experiences. Lati was bough on a free and brought in 500k, Ntcham in the region of 800k and was also free. I’m unsure now what they are looking for, they sack managers or force them out when they are looking good and just simply never learn. What we have now is a squad full of no profit and loans, they’ve sold off the best and this is where we are.

Matt O'Riley on 18:38 - Jan 24 with 2574 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Marc Allen was head of football at the time and there was some trading in that window. Swansea perhaps should pool its resources on quality like O'Riley rather than spread the money more thinly. https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/swansea-city/transfer-talk/feature/swansea Allen was thought it have brought in both Finlay Burns (who was way too young) and Ogbeta who ha not impressed anyone over three year such that he actually plays. Allen was relieved of his duties possibly related to the non signing of O'Riley. Martin himself spent £400k of on Fisher and loans came in for Christie and Wolfe. Swansea were filling problem position rather than long term stars. Perhaps the £400k on Fisher might have been the difference on the O'Riley deal?. Ogbeta cost £300k I recall. £700k there out of the budget..

Cooper rejected Goykeres £60m + Martin rejected Whitaker £10m Duff rejected (?) Fletcher Who know? It is a serial pattern of a club where people are not working in harmony.

you are wrong on Martin & Whitaker. One theory is that players trigger a % bonus to the previous club on x number of appearances. This "could" explain why Whitaker was not part of the plans? [just speculation]

Martin didn’t reject Whittaker, he had enough of his constant moaning and displays of childishness behind his back. Personally I would have knocked him down a few physical notches. He disrespected our club and the staff. And he was too thick to see what happens when you do put the effort in after you throw a strop ( Piroe ) He was brought back from Plymouth and told not to play him. When the window was over he played him. But his attitude was at best rubbish, we saw that on the pitch. I hope he does get sold, it’s at least three million profit on a self centred sulky fool. It’s ok blaming the then manager for certain things, but this was all down to Whittaker. I could say a whole lot more but it would compromise three players at the club, one now gone and two still there.

Everyone knows Fletcher could not play for the first team. It is not relevant that "It has been stated he could not play for the first team". He was on trial as out line by the manager Duff. We are looking at him" .He stated that 'a decision' would be made at the end of the loan. Fletcher impressed everyone except any of the staff at Swansea apparently as no one praised him at all despite and unprecedented 17 goals (including Mr Wright who's team has fallen off since he left). WoL stated he as keen to stay and wanted to play in Europe not the USA. Before the end of the loan Duff said he was 'OK' but behind two or three others Parker? Smith? Wilson? Only after this did Levien make his pitch for a return. I fully believe there was an option to sign him. Swnsea football staff did not want him. Welsh journalists have not explained this. It is left looking that Swansea staff rejected the player. Whitaker scored a stunning hat trick v Plymouth and not even given a place in the side. Whittaker and Martin did not like each other. These things happen Martin left and Duff could have persuaded him to stay. Swansea is too nice and cannot handle big egos perhaps? Duff inferred this. Goykeres and Cullen were too slow as a pair in the last 20 mins v Stevenage. I suggested Goykeres would do better with a speedster alongside him and that was Garrick. Whatever the question is at Swansea is the answer is always "Cullen" . Solid player and nice lad too.

Whitaker was an "asset" which they could make money from. Are you 100% confident that Martin didn't like Whitaker - this comment needs backing up. I believe Russell may still read this forum.....

I am not 100% sure Martin liked the player. How does that sound? Of course he is an asset. Six month after he left he is worth 10 x what Swansea sold him for. It is not even a surprise to most of us.
