Don't worry to much about bury - haven't you heard? They're only 12 points off the playoffs and 15 points off the top #buryarecack

That comment from Mr Day got me thinking about the likelihood of his "8 or 9 wins" forecast coming true.

bury are currently 21st with 14 points from 16 games.

Using the excellent statto.com website, over the last 10 years the following teams have been 21st after 16 games. Their final position and points are in brackets.

2012/13: AFC Wimbledon, 14 points (20th, 53 points)
2011/12: Bradford, 14 points (18th, 50 points)
2010/11: Lincoln, 16 points (23rd, 47 points)
2009/10: Cheltenham, 16 points (22nd, 48 points)
2008/09: Grimsby, 10 points (22nd, 41 points)
2007/08: Mansfield, 12 points (23rd, 42 points)
2006/07: Grimsby, 16 points (15th, 59 points)
2005/06: Mansfield, 16 points (16th, 54 points)
2004/05: Notts County, 17 points (19th, 52 points)
2003/04: Darlington, 15 points (18th, 53 points)

Conclusion: In the last ten seasons, no team in bury's current position has rose higher than 15th place by the season's end. Four teams actually finished in worse positions.

Make of that what you will.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Very interesting. Over the last 10 years, I wonder where the teams in third place after 16 games eventually finished.

Nathan D'laryea assisting cheeseman with commentary

Just out of interest, how did Jimmy Wagg introduce him?

"Ladies and gentlemen we've managed to prise him away from polishing his World Cup medal and are honoured to have a player of his ilk at our humble radio station. He was made by the legend that is Steve Eyre when he was the Manager of Manchester City when they won the European Cup. Ladies and Gentleman it's Mr Nathan D'layera."

"Now matey, you've played at the very highest level haven't you and with the best managers in the business like Steve Eyre, but Steve Eyre wasn't allowed the same time as Keith Hill to build a side that can play like that but Steve Eyre would have done wouldn't he matey?"

I was in the bad books anyway. I had the temerity to suggest to Jimmy and Fred that Steve Eyre didn't actually have anything to do with the Brazil 1970 World Cup winning side. You just can't be that disrespectful and expect to get away with it.

No one has been prepared to give due credit to Eyre's role in coaching the future before he was even born.

That's even more interesting: eight of the ten slipped down the division, and the other two just retained third place.

The message to KH is clear - no complacency and a redoubling of effort!

To be fair Eyre shows a great degree of humility with regards to his role in England's triumph of 1966. He says all he did was say to Sir Alf, "the Germans will be expecting Greavise, why not go with Hursty?" The rest he says was entirely Sir Alf's doing.

As Eyre states "when you're writing a seminal album like Sergeant Pepper, football sometimes has to take a back seat. And that Twiggy ain't gonna knob herself"
