I worked there on student hols in the late 60s when it was a vibrant economic powerhouse. I was under Mr Strong, the export Director.
But this latest fire reminds me of other ex factories in Rochdale such as another job I had as sales correspondent with Dexine Rubber Ltd, off Spotland Rd.
This mysteriously burned down a couple of years ago, following a change of ownership.
May I be forgiven for thinking that when Property Companies buy these lemons, and then find that there is so much negative legislation in terms of what they could do with them the buildings become the subject of insurance claims?
