Why can't the UK 13:03 - Mar 20 with 965 viewsBoundy

I've just seen a BBC report on how the Irish Republic deal with illegal immigrants coming in from the north. they have at certain crossing points into the republic vehicle checks and in which when if unable to prove their status the occupants are returned to the north the same day , no fuss ,no issues , so why are we in the UK obliged to spend hundreds of millions on those who shouldn't be here .

The Rwanda scheme worked to an extent. Migrants arriving to the UK legged it to RoI in fear of deportation to Rwanda.

It seems UK is willing to accept migrants returning from RoI (EU) while the French are not prepared to accept returns from the UK.

If UK could return all migrants to France the crossings would end. Migrants do not want to spend big money to smugglers more than once.

Starmer says Labour has returned 19,000 migrants. It does not matter that it was mostly voluntary.

Maybe due to so many lawyers in this country making a very good living out of it?

It certainly looks strange, the Republic an EU member and a signatory to convention of human rights seems to have the right approach and without all the wailing and crying from those who don't care about the future of their country.

There has been a large anti immigrant feeling in the RoI for a while. It's also spread across the EU with Germany having a massive build up.

The open borders policy has certainly caused problems.

If the UK had roads connecting to mainland Europe we could do exactly the same.

Most pensioners do not need the winter fuel allowance. Far better to install lagging for free. Another mild winter has s passed. Lob some cash to people in Gwynedd.

What unadulterated , offensive garbage
My God, pensioners are pretty much reviled in this country
Maybe we should cull them at 70 as they serve no purpose and only take from the state when they could give it to young people

It should most definitely have been means tested IMO.

But pensioners on average are the most well off age group (with the caveat that a lot of that wealth is in property)

It never takes long for a pensioner bashing on here, we really should be ashamed for working 45 years and saving for our retirement

I wonder how many working families rely on pensioners to babysit, child mind or do the school run, with the astronomicl cost of childcare, they wouldn't be able to afford to work.

So pensioners are contributating to the economy.

That’s so true.

So many parents with young kids are reliant on grandparents.

It’s all part of the agenda—some of us have been shouting it from the rooftops for years, only to be silenced by the usual brainwashed zealots who refuse to believe their governments could ever be complicit.

Stopping the endless flow of dinghies across the Channel has always been straightforward, yet here we are, two decades later, with the reality only now dawning on some. Is it too late? Possibly. But rest assured, those who have long fought for you—despite being demonised for it—aren’t backing down.

We’re now in the last-chance saloon. Either we stamp it out now, or we lose the country forever. It really is that simple.
