Perhaps he should be pushed forward and replace Ronald .

Key is a waste of a shirt , we can’t keep playing him in the position we are in,he cant defend ,is slow , frightened to tackle ,his game awareness ,desire and reactions are non existant and he never looks like gives 100% for the team , yet he’s picked every game
We are struggling and can’t afford to carry players , we need everyone who wears the shirt to give his all . I cant beleive the under 21’s right back is a worse option than Key , or the under 8’s right back for that matter !!

He is a passenger that we cannot afford to carry. I actually thought he did well last season. I have no idea what has happened to him this season. He definitely needs dropping.

He should have been pulled at halftime. Moved Naughton to full back and brought Christie [who I don't rate] into the middle. We couldn't have been any worse.

He’s a talented player. Probably most suited to a right wing back position as he’s particularly good going forward. Defensively his positional and spacial awareness needs to be improved but he has the attributes and quality of a good championship footballer.

Possibly like a lot of our players his confidence is quite low as we are on a poor run of results this year. Burnley are a good team. Hard to play against they take a grip of things. We aren’t at thst level just now but players like Key are capable of getting there.

And yet there have been a number of games this season where we have kepted clean sheets, the fact in the drive for attacking play we throw the baby out with the bathwater and don't do things correctly, taking too long on the ball then often taking the wrong choices instead of the defence playing quick balls if pressed as required to clear the ball from dangerous areas where the press is being deployed. Sometimes it can look and be boring but sometimes you have to bide your time and not try and force things while playing out from the back, good movement around the player on the ball makes their choices easier and quicker to make as that movement opens up space for short or long passes enabling players to take on players one on one knowing they have a chance of taking them on because they have insufficient cover, doesn't looks boring then instead of giving wingers two or three players to beat.

Naughton needs to be right back for the remainder of the season.

He takes too many touches and just seems to be thinking what he wants to do with the ball before he receives it.

Caught too many time dwelling on the ball, too many times he misplaced passes although that could have been said of a few .You could could see him visibly shrink as the first half progressed and as WR posted perhaps for the good of the eam subbed and put Naughton there although he made a few mistakes himself .

Pushing Key forward into midfield, was exactly what I was saying to my son on Saturday evening.

Key has reasonable pace, likes going forward and I think, a decent engine too. In my opinion he'd be better in midfield than Fulton for example, who is simply 'wooden' nowadays and anonymous too much of the time. With MP-H having returned to Brentford, we have an option there as Key can play on both sides.

However, I'd also like to see Ginnelly given more chances too. So to contradict myself a little, perhaps there are too many vying for a midfield spot already?

I thought Fulton was not as bad as some of the others on Saturday.

Fulton did well.

He’s pigeonholed as a defensive midfielder because he’s tall and combative, but I don’t think it really suits him.

He’s much better when he’s got more licence to go forward. He breaks tackles and has an underrated attacking passing game.

He isn’t as good played deep and centrally, which is where we usually do play him. He’s had more freedom to attack on Saturday.

Fulton was ok on Saturday ,compared to some . In fairness ,he does get stuck in and isn’t afraid to shoot given the chance
Key doesn’t have what it takes to play in midfield ,he loses the ball too easily and can’t tackle and his general game awareness isn’t very good .

Are we talking about Jay Fulton now ??? Should only be used to shore up the defence in the last 15mins when/if we're winning. The guy hides, watch him next time we're in possession.

When we’re trying to play out from the back, totally agree he does. That’s why I don’t think he’s suited to playing that role.

Not sure if you saw the game Saturday, but he didn’t have to do that at 2-0 down and was allowed to attack. He had a good cameo in a role that suited him much better.

Consistently played in a role that highlights his weaknesses.

Definitely doesn’t want the ball from the centre backs, especially when he’s being pressed. Much better when he’s not played so deep

Sorry but you have to watch him for a period of time, he runs around aimlessly that's why he never receives a pass, he gets in the way of other players and hardly ever tracks or marks an opposition player, he's a waste of a shirt.

He doesn’t show for the ball when we’re playing out. He’s happy not to make little darts into space that are likely to get him possession facing our goal in dangerous areas.

Hardly ever tracks or marks opponents? Nah, I’m not having that.

Did you think he looked aimless or not involved Saturday?

Watch him for a period, if he does get the ball, which is very often, he passes it to the person right next him.

I didn't watch on Saturday as I was working but it didn't stop me from giving an audible moan when I saw on the BBC app that he replaced franco 🙄

I've watched him enough this season to see that he is useless and waste of a shirt, if it wasn't for our weak squad he wouldn't make the subs bench.

It’s easy for us to have a go at a players who earn what we think is a ridiculous amount a week, just for kicking a football. They especially deserve stick if they don’t show the commitment the shirt deserves.
But I have to say, the poor lad looks like a rabbit in the headlights.
His confidence is completely shot and needs to be rested for his own good.
There’s a player in there, because I thought he looked a real prospect when he first played for us.
Confidence is everything in sport, and when you loose it and it’s your living, it must play havoc with your mind. A good coach / manager should take him out of the firing line, and start building his confidence back.

I wouldn’t be starting him either, but that’s a different conversation. I’d have rather have seen Allen or Bianchini come on at that point, but that’s a different conversation. Incidentally Franco had his worst game for us in my opinion.

My original point was that Fulton looked a lot better with less defensive responsibility than in the games you’ve seen. Genuinely think he’s a better player than that role makes him look.

Regardless of any of that though, surely you can see no player would last 10 years, 250 games and multiple contract extensions if he didn’t track players and wandered around aimlessly, especially in the position he normally plays?
