I am by no means a snob when it comes to it. I probably couldn't name more than half a dozen operas, symphonies or such if pushed, but what I do like I adore. Most people will know and like more than they realise due to how much this stuff permeates culture.
This is probably my favourite bit of classical music of all time performed by two outstanding artists.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
I do like a bit of Puccini. I have the Essential Pavarotti album on my iPhone, this is one of my favourites.
Another Pavarotti belter.

The Planets by Gustav Holst , Vivaldis Four Seasons mainly for violin excellence playing .
Chuck in a bit of Bach and Beethoven , not their highbrow stuff for the real experts in that field , not me in that bracket .
Driving trips I skim through the radio stations , Classic FM put on some bangers though . Far too much forced listening to drivel on Radio 1 there .
Pictures at an Exhibition Mussorsky was the head turner in my school music lessons .
Love the Planet Suite.
