The heroic actor is helping people with debts in Port Talbot

This needs the brains of the forum to explain it.

It seems he is now owed £100k but will write it off presumably.

This guy is a legend.
I use to be involved with street football myself.
Had friends that represented Wales in the World Cup.

Sometimes people can just be good.
😌

It’s refreshing to see an actor caring about normal people.
He has got more money than he will ever need as you get older you realise you can’t take it with you?

Also he is shining a light on a community that has been hit hard with the steel works closing.
Even if he does get a tax write off for it who cares?
Most of the super rich just live abroad.

What are you thinking res?
You obviously think there is something shady with this?

Think at the state of top actors these days, with the epstine island list dripping out
Surely this is a nice break from pure evil.

Personally I appreciate Mr Sheens hard work and dedication to what he cares about.
It should be Sir 👏

No nothing shady. People in debt need advice. Sheen has effect cleared £1m of debt for 10p on the pound. The loaning companies ars simply getting some cash for their bad debt accounts.

If you for example bought the debt for £100k you would then go out and try to get back whatever you could from the debtors.. A potential £900k. I is unpleasant work and no one wants to do it.

The people holding the new debt could make a fortune if they could do deals and get only half the debt back. £400k.

People in debt can take advice and do a deal if they are genuinely in financial dire straits due to redundancy or illness .

The time extension of the debt just adds stress to people.

The debt companies, buy a list of debtors names from the companies for a very small fee.- the companies can't be bothered to chase the debts so they pass it on. The collecting companies then try to charge the debtors for the full amount, which has basically been discharged by the companies. in the first place. It's nothing but legalised extortion

The debtors are at liberty to strike a deal. For example 25p in the £. This represents a a very decent return on investment if they paid 10p on the £.

One could argue all thing being equal serial defaulters are the extortionists. Taking a loan knowing in advance that paying it back was highly unlikely.

Port Talbot has some extenuating factors such as mass redundancies at the steel works.

No, as I explained, the companies basically write of the debts, but just sell lists of these names onto agencies. They then try to pursue money that was never owed to them in the first place.

A close family member got into debt some years ago, so I negotiated with the company for a big reduction, which I then paid them. Knowing what I now know, they wouldn't have had a penny. I guess that's experience for you

He does a great deal of good work locally that goes unnoticed and likes it that way. Not so long ago he got behind a successful project to save a local sports facility in the upper Swansea Valley. A really nice, genuine guy.

He can be a bit tediously preachy but one of the few who walks the walk as well as talking it.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I hear he shops at one of the major supermarket chains in the Swansea Valley these days .

Lives in the area and pushes his trolley around the aisles incognito , nice one .

My experience of dealing with customers who I know have a backstory I would love to hear their side of the media news , would never ask that question anyway .
