He is not going to sign a new deal. The longer it goes the less likely a deal becomes. He should have been moved on last summer by telling him he was done at Swansea. One or two players would sit it out but not many. Those that do sit out a season rarely make it back to the same level.

We simply can’t compete with the likes of Sheffield United. However, if they do go up will they want him in the EPL ? I don’t see him as anything else than a decent championship centre back |  |

You could be right, but he may be happier being a decent championship centre back earning and extra 10k a week. Especially as he probably has 7-9 years of his playing career left (at this level).
If he could see genuine progression with us with potentially pushing for a promotion in the next two years he may want to be a part of that and have a crack at the prem. But reality is, he's probably lacking confidence (as most supporters are) in that department. | | | |
