An important reality for those responsible for appointing our new manager 22:39 - Feb 22 with 627 viewsDr_Winston

Guardiola football is on the way out. The absolute last thing we need is more Martin/Williams possession obsessed sh*te or we're just going to get left behind.

Today was a perfect example of that. Nobody gives a sweet FA that we only had 46% possession. We did more with it at the right times than in games where we've dominated the ball. That's what matters going forward.

Nobody wants kick and rush, but pass and wait has failed. Time to move to a sensible mid point.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Game has moved on & the EPL has been changing since Leicester won it in 2016 with all out counter attacking football.

The better sides still tend to dominate the ball but it’s the high octane, pace & press styles that are dominating the leagues - Liverpool & Leeds both doing and but good to watch with it. Tippy-tappy at walking pace will never work

Totally agree. Just add the mix of only playing players out of position as the last option and making the keeper and defenders understand to play the ball out it must be risk free.
Perhaps we'll see more of yesterdays results.

The most important thing is to play to the strengths of the players at your disposal.
Trying to push Key & Tymon into midfield was never going to work.
Equally we can't play like Leeds or Liverpool because we don't have any real pace in the squad.

Absofrigginglutely.

Square pegs in square holes. Pick a style to suit what you have, not try to squeeze unsuitable players into the tactical model you've decided to play anyway.

Square pegs in square holes, how dare you !

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

There's a group of us on here who've been saying all of the above for a while. Play to squad strengths, play pragmatic football, not suicidal possession based. Move the ball more quickly, get it forward more quickly, try and hit the runners with through balls and hit early crosses to runners in the box. Press the defence hard and quickly.

Walking football is for people of my age and older, not for the pro leagues.

Sheehan got it dead right yesterday. Leave him there til seasons end if he keeps it going, and then decide. Don't rush into appointing someone now. The next manager/head coach has to be right, then he needs to be allowed to get some players he actually wants and maybe things will head in the right direction again.

Even Guardiola is struggling with Guardiola football right now.
