Incorrect , the Educational needs of the children of Wales are under the initial control of Cardiff "educational "minister ,he and his minions determine the policy and the local authority specify the school calendar year. Even when we had half a day off it was never a national holiday I thought you'd have known that but then again .

He does like to blame Westminster for everything and on this, just like he was with the water issue, he is again wrong. And he calls others twp

I read this forum and we gave experts on everything including Russia Ukraine , Gaza, obscure UK politics WAG Reform political party etc.

Use you stupid post for all those issues. None of them have SA postcode. Your post has " gaslighting features".

Why should I care.you ask ? You care enough to post.

There's not many experts around on here.

Russia/Ukraine...Gaza...a tad more imprtant than a parade being cancelled in the Midlands I''d say and when you talk about obscure, this parade being cancelled is about as obscure as it gets.

What gaslighting features does my post have? I thought it had more "taking the mick" features, a tad irnonic maybe.

Are you questioning your sanity then?

I care enough to post, can you even make up a reason why I care? Can you think of anything about this that would have me caring? I have an uncle, whom, when I asked said he didn't care and he's from Cork.

Still, if my post breaks site rules then I';m sure a Mod will do something.

It is probably a business friendly move. When I was working in engineering we had deadline and needed to get things done with worku.g between regional offices. If England and Wales had separate days off that would be two days of unnecessary delays.

I take the point but Scotland and the north of Ireland seem to manage it ok.

Plus not a problem apparently if the England football team ever won anything ….

Only a problem if Wales asks ….

We are talking Bank Holidays so we can all celebrate our wonderful nation.

No need for Wales to accept anything less if its good enough for Scotland, the north of Ireland and Englands football team ….

No - not everyone, just you.

I was correct on welsh water being taken from us without the market value being paid, try that with oil in the Arab lands. This follows coal of course.

I am right about Westminster giving Scotland and the north of Ireland a BH for their national days but denying the welsh govt request for parity.
Its a bit like the disrespect for the Crown Estate and HS2.
Notice a pattern.

Totally agree.
Welsh water is a con job.

All water companies need to be returned to full state ownership asap so that long term investments can be made. Another failed legacy from Thatcher.

Water then sold at fair market value … with the benefits going to the welsh tax payer.

Water can then be made cheaper in Wales.
This is turn will attract industries that use a lot of water like brewing etc.

Oh so it's only me you directly insult eh. I'm honoured. Clearly no one else gets under your skin enough

You blamed Westminster for selling the water when it's the Senedd who are responsible for licensing, makes you wrong blarney boy.

Which fence is that?

PS, Morgan is having a go about HS2, maybe Starmer will do the right thing. Saints days aren't something I worry about not being religious and I get good holidays so oe more day doesn't bother me.

The crown estate, just like the HoL I disagree with it. It's not their land it's ours and should benefit us not a Royal family that belongs in the past, not in a modern society,

Hopefully the 40% rise is for much needed investment in cleaning our rivers and beaches. There is no free lunch and activists are doing a good job in highlighting where improvements are needed.

It is not going to shareholders which is where profits usually go. Dwr Cymru does not cover urban areas which make profits more difficult and a single line covers 1000 of water eare payees in urban areas.

Wales pats the extra costs for being rural. The Urban areas Severn Trent etc control our assets so we have no mitigations.

I'm quite surprised that Dwr Cymru doesn't cover urban areas because I live in an urban area and guess who supplies my water.....

Wales has no urban areas eh...another surprise!

Peter Perry the CEO received a bonus of £92000 in 2024

Ofwat reprimanded them for using customers funds to pay bonuses.

Not bad a bonus for presiding over failure

Resloven has a point about the nature of the area, albeit he could have articulated a little better. The area is a mixture of urban and rural and covering such a big area with many remote communities does make it more expensive, but the fact a bonus has been paid out in my opinion is very very poor.
How can customer funds be used to pay bonuses when we’re pumping #### into the rivers! It’s mental.

As everyone knows It was a generality of course. Dwr Cymru area is predominantly rural therefore more difficult to make a profit. Clearly Ofwatt need to control bonus payment based on real performance indicators like pollution lost water from pipe and road closures etc

If Wales sold its water for the market value, then everyone in wales could have cheaper water both urban and rural.

Average bills outlooked for five years time after stated price increases.

Dwr Cymru: £645
Southern Water: £642
Anglian Water: £631
Wessex Water: £614
South West Water: £610
Yorkshire Water: £607
Thames Water: £588
United Utilities: £585
Severn Trent Water: £583
Hafren Dyfrdwy: £557

We are being taken for fools.

Eh !! I'm suggesting that as part of the UK, it's right that we supply our brothers and sisters over the border. Don't you think if we started charging OTT for water they'd simply source their own. It's not like its a rare commodity in the UK.

It's not required to be provided from Wales. Areas of England are equally wet. We aren't going to make cash selling water to England.

Been to Paddys day at Digbeth a couple of times . Lots of good bars with plenty of guiness flowing and live music . I think big Joe Egan used to run a pub there at one time . Dont know why the council are not footing the bill anymore its probably because they have no money left shame because it was a good day out. I daresay the pubs down there will still be rammed but no street parade taking place.
