Millwall away virgin 11:55 - Jan 28 with 4809 views | Rangerman | Hi All, apologies if this has already been covered, but I'm making my first trip to Millwall away and would really appreciate some advice on the general logistics of the day. I'll also be taking my daughter to her first away day, so it's a day of firsts for us! Could anyone recommend the best pubs and the most convenient train station to use? P.S. I am not an under cover meat head. [Post edited 28 Jan 11:57]

I don't see an issue with it. I've never had a problem going there and you're well protected. It's no different to any other away game apart from leaving can be a pain. To the original poster I'd say just go to London Bridge, go in a pub like the Barrow Boy & Banker then follow the crowd when people leave.
Millwall away virgin on 12:10 - Jan 28 with 3648 views | themodfather | south bermondsey one stop from london bridge , once at the station there is a sign, home fans this way, away fans that way, once you turn into the away fans bit, it is raised fencing all the way to ground so no need for police until near ground turnstiles. usually after game we get held back for 20 mins or so, until police slowly lead you up and onto trains back to civility . very safe .

My 16 year old daughters coming with me too - We will head to Borough Market first have some food and drinks then get on the train at London bridge to South Bermondsey (1 stop). From the station it is a walkway for away fans straight to the away end. You hardly see any Millwall fans. We may get kept in for 20 minutes after the game but it's no bother especially if we have the 3 points in our back pocket. It's a great away day - I'm sure she will love it.

Just watch out for the little chavs doing cut throat gestures.
Millwall away virgin on 12:43 - Jan 28 with 3468 views | Juzzie | If you are seated on either end of the top tier, expect the Millwall fans to your left or right (as applicable) to spend the whole game doing slit-throat gestures, offering you out and various other things apart from actually watching the game. Also look out for bored police officers standing by them who see this week-in-week out.

I went to the league game the following year and that was bad enough.I made the mistake of parking my car on the wrong side of the ground, and there was no way that I was going to walk through that line of coppers separating us from the hordes so I followed our fans and walked the long way around the ground. When I got to my car there were 2 Millwall fans sitting on the roof and a couple milling around it as it was the only car left in the street.I did another circuit around the ground again. The following year I cycled there from Mitcham and chained it to one of the corrugated iron fences and I was away in no time.
Millwall away virgin on 14:47 - Jan 28 with 2831 views | Juzzie | Each time I've been (old & new Den) I've always gone by motorbike. Parked nearby without any problem and walking down the road in motorbike jacket & boots and you're pretty much invisible to the flat-cap brigade scanning for targets. Same thing at Chelsea when we lost 1-0 in the Cup to an own-goal that came back off the crossbar and off Lee Camp. Walking back to my bike just off the Fulham Road and about 15 "chels" looking for QPR fans. Ran right past me as though I wasn't there. Phew. [Post edited 28 Jan 14:47]

It does make me wonder, especially with children present, why they should be allowed to get away with that. It is essentially a Section 4A Public Order offence. If it was pointed out to a police officer present then they should be doing something about it, as difficult as that may be in a mob. There's always CCTV for retrospective arrest/summons. If the police are made aware of it and do nothing while someone was genuinely alarmed by it I'd be making a formal complaint (as much as that probably wouldn't go anywhere). Not saying it bothers me particularly, I just find it baffling behaviour that when offered for said person to follow through with it they shrink away or find a reason not to (Get big Dave to hold them back). But for the sake of those with youngsters or anyone else who would be intimidated then something should be done. And yes I am aware we have our own rent-a-mob but it does seem to be a higher proportion of the crowd at certain clubs who behave like this.

May as well join in as I'll also be there with my 19 year old daughter. Not her first away game but the first at Millwall, I've warned her but obviously she won't listen, to be fair she is 19 and female so clearly knows everything. In all seriousness looking forward to it, not been for a while, the weather at the moment is sunny, got a pretty reasonable chance of competing at least and possibly nabbing all three points. I'm also a double hard bastard so no worries there. See you all in Borough Market.
Millwall away virgin on 17:27 - Jan 28 with 2333 views | Rangersw12 | Don't know how old your daughter is but I wouldn't leave it till the last minute to get the tube as it's usually packed so I would get to the ground early . Afterwards we haven't been kept behind for the last few years so you should be able to get back to civilisation pretty quickly

Football is a different beast, it's almost as though mild aggression is expected/accepted. I took my kids to a game last season and sat in the lower loft family section and had to ask this bloke next to me to stop swearing. His stock answer was "well, what do you expect at a football match?" I replied back with "anywhere else in the ground I'd say 'fair game' and probably not say anything but we are in a designated family area'. To which he just humpffed. At the recent Watford home game we sat in the lower school end right behind the goal and my, just turned 7 years old, daughter kept loudly calling out at the Watford goalie "banana man!". A hoolie in the making....... [Post edited 28 Jan 17:31]

Make sure you call their fans a bunch of barrowboy and bankers, they should take kindly to it. [Post edited 29 Jan 17:54]

Millwall away virgin on 19:29 - Jan 29 with 1420 views | James_Paddocks | Nothing remotely hostile about it. It's just grim. Characterless stadium, with a load of teenage gimps watching the away end for 90 minutes. The last few seasons we've been let out at full time. Might be slightly different this time, as it's a 3pm with a full away end.
Millwall away virgin on 21:06 - Jan 29 with 1244 views | Watford_Ranger | I’d probably get in slightly early and sit fairly central. Not had an issue there for years but bound to be a few of our young/not so young hoodlums ‘giving it’ in the corners.

I was one of the very few Rs in the away end that night. An intimidating atmosphere to say the least, not helped by our extremely defensive performance (back passing to the keeper was very much still allowed then) to grind out a 0-0. The mate I went with that night is a Forest fan so it wasn't even 100% QPR fans among that small away following. The home leg which we won 2-1 was extremely lively, during and after the game.
