I’d also question his awareness and attention to the detail required during the match at this level. The other night after taking the lead Sheff Utd sat deep later on and played on the break so we had a lot of the ball but crosses into the box hardly caused them a problem because we didn’t have a physical presence in there so surely he had to bring on VIP to move their defenders about. I’m not a fan of his but getting a big no 9 in there to try for a point, for me, it’s no brainier. |  | | |

Swansea's mentality is to keep their best & brightest youngsters hidden, and not allow them significant 1st team opportunities. Yes, a £150K for him this summer sounds about right because managers largely refuse to play their younger stars to find out how they handle 1st team playing opportunities. The likes of Roberts, Rodon, McBurnie etc were exposed to a higher level of competition against other category A academies and most of them had a spell on loan.
When they were required to step up to the first team, most of them then did it fairly easily.
The few U21s games I’ve seen bits of online have looked like slow paced, technically focused, training games. It’s very hard to jump from that straight to the Championship.
You will always find examples if you scour the success stories of the division. Esse is the exception, not the norm.
It’s not that our young players aren’t good enough, it’s more that they aren’t prepared enough. Abdulai is a great example. Shining light in the U21s. | | | |

I think the likes of Bianchini and Eom could both be suited to a number 10 role but is that what is needed rather than a quality midfielder or a centreforward, Cullen and Yates are poachers I don't think they can they really lead the line.
For me what has been said before that forwards runs are not being spotted, the players trying to play the through balls are too deep meaning long balls, when they are played can be cut out by good defending, answer would be get the players playing the through balls higher up the pitch when the opposition defence is not settled. If a youngster is good enough then they need to be given chances at the higher level of first team senior football but who ever they play for be it ours or on loan they have to learn to work on their weaknesses at the moment our first team seem unable to correct some of the weaknesses that must be evident to their coaches as they are to the fans, if you play a youngster in a team that is inherently weak are they going to learn with others around them making school boy errors. | | | |
