I’m no fan of LW but although the WBA saga didn’t help his cause with myself or others I don’t regard it as the sleight to us that others do. As he was on thin ice with many this became another convenient stick with which to beat him. An error of judgment for sure but nowhere near as bad as the way he sets us up every week, playing players in wrong positions, identical subs, predictable tactics, predictable second half performances etc. | |

"We can't build a group in the simplest way, just finding players who are performing very well in the Championship, splashing the cash and bringing them in to make those performances for us. Lovely, a shortcut is brilliant. But we are not in that situation, so we have to find a clever way. Can I suggest you start with playing a bit more directly... Forward passes/through balls and overlapping fullbacks to get the ball into the box more regularly would be a start.
Also a player who actually likes to dribble and run at the heart of defences would be good to keep them guessing. Sideways/backwards passing (constantly) is not the way forward (see what I did there) | | | |

I don't blame Key. Grimes is our "hub" and it seems like everything has to go through him. It's Grimes that slows us down, takes us backwards or sideways even when a forward pass is on. It's Grimes that drops so deep he leaves a gap in midfield and when we get pressed quickly we ned up putting ourselves under pressure, and that is a lot.
It's been said so many times but the Grimes that drops deep and slows us down is a menace to us, the Grimes that is on the front foot and high up the pitch is a benefit to us. The drop deep Grimes must be doing so at the managers instruction, the problem is mostly the manager and the whole team is in decline because of Williams. | | | |

I don't think that the "drop deep" Grimes is doing so at the managers instructions. If anything has emerged over recent seasons, it's that Grimes has far, far too much influence at the club.
Is it a coincidence that Michael Duff, the only manager since Potter who has tried to force him out of his "racking up passing stats just for the sheer hell of it" mindset also had to deal with rumours of dressing room unrest?
When it comes to replacing Williams, I'd be actively targeting bosses who would be willing to park his sh*t bearded, terrible set piece taking ass on the bench. |  |
