Not difficult to see why England haven’t won a major tournament for 59 years is it ? England managers never play in form flair players. Perhaps the new guy will be different but somehow I doubt it.

In all my years of watching football I've never seen a more talented player than Le God.(sadly overlooked by our National team) And most of us had the pleasure of watching him perform the outrageous.

But for us that saw him live there were also so many outrageous moments where he hit the post or bar, and had they gone in would have added hugely to that list. He was great from the penalty spot, but he rarely missed the target from free kicks even if he didn't score. He was also a fantastic passer of the ball. I remember some of his crossfield long passes were just sublime. Very special talent.

I had an eye op yesterday and those 10 goals still look brilliant even through one eye as there’s still a pirates patch over the other one! 👁 I honestly believe the issue with England during the time Venables was in charge was personal. Le Tiss was just the actual signature away from signing for Spurs when Venables was the Spurs boss but Le Tiss changed his mind at the last minute and stayed with us. I think Venables held that against Matt and deliberately overlooked what was clearly one of the best players in Europe who given a proper opportunity could have shone for England and maybe even re-written the Three Lions lyrics with the skills others could only dream about. Shearer, Gazza & Le Tiss??? Not many opposition teams could have coped with that 🙂
