Our crap pitch 01:32 - Jan 22 with 2305 viewsTummer_from_Texas

One nice feature this season for American Jacks is Paramount Plus’ coverage of the whole FL, but particularly the Championship. Past championship seasons, we’ve had to watch 90+% of the league matches on Swans TV. While PP mostly ignored us at the start of the season outside of the home Cardiff fixture and a couple others, lately they’ve picked up a lot of them. This means we hear honest opinions about the state of the club.

Last 3 or 4 Swansea.com fixtures, it’s come up every time that our pitch is torn up to hell, each time insisting that it hurts us given our playing style.

My apologies if this has been discussed around here and I’m ferdy. But since there is nothing about it on page 1 of the board, please entertain my novice questions.

1) Is a choppy pitch really a competitive disadvantage? Yes, I get that we are possession-based, and our crap pitch gives us more chances for a bad bounce to lead to disaster. But if none of the other pitches in the division are in this kind of shape, isn’t that disadvantage offset by the fact our players should have the benefit of familiarity, of knowing where the bad spots are?

2) How many other clubs in EFL share their pitch with a rugby club? Are all of those pitches crap, or do those clubs manage it better?

In any case, here’s hoping ownership takes into account the pitch we share with Ospreys, and don’t go after another gaffer with LW’s philosophy, when he goes away.

Not so many years ago when we has the Aussie Groundsman we were voted the best pitch in the Premier League.

What's changed?

He left and went back to Oz I think, pitch was like a Bowling Green week in week out when he was there.

And for an extra tenner an hour there’s plenty more out there.

We had money back then, we're down to bare essentials now.

Even the club Cat is on rations, no more of Sainsbury's finest Cat tucker, its Poundland's finest now

Yes, Luke mentioned it.
So, why doesn’t he change tactics. Didn’t affect top players in years gone by. In game management ?

Nah I’ll just complain about it afterwards 🙄

Should get big Mick back and play hoofball.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

From what I was told by someone who’d worked on premier league teams training pitches it’s the levels of substrate which over time needs replacing/ maintenance and if you don’t the playing service will resemble a Council park pitch which we have, another display of negligence by the previous owners

They need to go and spread the love a bit and play at The Brewery Field.

How many fans do Osprey's draw for a big game?

I think I saw them once on a random broadcast on BEIN or some other fringe sports network several years ago. The Liberty was pretty empty.

Not many more than the players on the pitch to be honest. Unfortunately, it’s those on the pitch are the problem regarding our pitch. Not a long term problem but is one at the moment.

3,000-4,000 not many at all, but when you look at our dwindling attendances is there sport apathy in Swansea or just a shortage of money.

too many sofa fans WR...games available to watch from thr comfort of your front room.
I also know of several Ospreys fans disillusioned with the way pro rugby is.....silly kick off times ..hanging about waiting for the tmo to make decisions.....coupled with people's economics.
Also and it's my personal opinion "kids" today have a different interest they would rather be on Xbox,PS whatever PC or tablet as a result there are fewer young fans coming through

Agree but kids are the future, lose them a eventually football as a live spectator sport will disappear. We have to do something, we seem to be struggling more than most clubs there are clubs in lower leagues getting bigger gates than us.
