Where's the new signings? on 12:55 - Jan 22 with 1075 views | union_jack | I maybe in the minority of one here but I’m cutting them an awful amount of slack here. We’ve got three issues I reckon. 1. Probably most importantly the issue of FFP / P&S. We can’t just spend money even though we’ve got it and this problem has been documented on this site many many times. 2. We can’t negotiate the right fee for a player we want and will not show we’ll just pay anything another club demands. Clearly point 1 above has a bearing on this also. 3. We may be without LW and purchases will need to fit in with a future set up not the current one. My opinion regarding Low is that he’d fit in to any set up in the future but other areas of the field may be more influenced by a style that we don’t play now. I don’t think the new owners are sitting on their hands just to save money. They are not stupid. But they are also not totally savvy regarding the ins and outs of the way football clubs are run so they need the relevant expertise in house.

I hear you regarding point 3, and agree this is playing a big part in the board not rushing. They maybe feel that we're in a comfortable League position where were not currently looking likely to break into the playoffs not get dragged into a relegation battle. However, our form has dipped considerably (despite an encouraging first 45 minutes last night) and if we lose the next 4 on the bounce in a relegation battle we will be with no options to bring anyone in. The sensible thing is to bring a couple of signings in this window to shake things up a bit and give the squad a bit more energy and momentum.

Point three is certainly the biggie for me. Committing money now on players Williams wants would likely be just pissing it away. Given the previous comments about not wanting to go down the loan route perhaps that is having a serious re-evaluation. Couple of decent loans and maybe the odd free agent to see us through the season. Keep most of our resources for the new guy in the Summer.

This 100%. If there is ever a time for a couple of loans this is it. One issue is the best loans are available at the end of the window when Premier League clubs have finalised their squads.
Where's the new signings? on 09:54 - Jan 23 with 631 views | Swans9 | Hull have signed 4 including k Joseph for 2.5m. Are we looking for a loan deal from Torquay or are our one scout on full pay gardening leave. Surely we will bring at least 2 players in even if it is loans. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Frankly, although I’d love better quality players come in,I would rather we simply stay up this season then regroup . For me,it’s crucial we rid ourselves of this “ coach” and I understand the reluctance to trust him with players and/ or new players . It’s a tricky time for sure but we look to the new owners with hope in hearts

I agree but sadly that's been the same mantra mid season for a few years now. "stay up" No progression and I don't mean promotion but a strengthening of the first 11 let alone the squad, each season we see a glimmer of what might be but its slowly snatched away each year.

I've never really been on board with the idea that our squad has got worse every season since we got relegated. For me it's only really this season and last where the ball has truly been dropped. Cooper had a squad capable of the playoffs and proved it by making the playoffs. Martin had a squad capable of the playoffs, a more varied one than Cooper in a lot of ways but we didn't even compete for them largely on account of Martin being an idiot. For all people hark back to January 2022, our squad was already plenty strong enough, we just lacked a manager with the sense to use it properly. It was obvious to plenty of us at the time so certainly there would have been some at the club who knew it too, so why entrust a buffoon with more money? We're in a similar situation now, although the squad available to Williams is nowhere near as good as the one Martin had. The same doubts will be there, and plans we might have had will be being radically revised behind the scenes as a result of Williams' antics.

I always say we could go down. And we could. So could any club . Fact Fact is ,we are and have been run by clueless chaps whose rank business naivety in football has cost us and will continue I see this new ownership as being no different

Where's the new signings? on 12:14 - Jan 24 with 122 views | Luther27 | A normal January window for us. What grips me is the managerial lies which start around November saying targets have been identified etc. Why insult fans with crap like that. Just stay quiet.
