Hardly
He has been largely poor this season bar about 3 games , another one these lads who thinks he is the dogs bollox
3 times he cost us and we don’t even own him, I doubt he gives a Sh1t either TBH

Bit harsh to say he doesn’t he doesn’t care . I’ve watched him celebrating at the end of our wins and let’s not forget we’ve had a few of late and he’s been the happiest of all our players .
He had shocker today but cut him some slack .

Ashby was poor today, but one defeat in 11 league games prior to this and great character shown by ALL of the team during this period.

Absolutely not the time for fan meltdowns and scapegoats in my opinion. Let's move on and look forward to Plymouth next week shall we?

Fúck these entitled and pampered PL academy lads that teams like us are expected to develop. Earning a fortune having achieved fúck all, and we're not even going to be the team that benefits from these growing pains.

QPR are not a charity case - send him back.

Completely agree. A hard working but limited player. He's definitely better back up than Santos and puts in a shift.

I’d actually rather have Kakay at right back than Ashby.

Me too. Is he still without a club?

Exactly this. The team are united and working hard for each other. Shame some of the fans have to go so over the top with criticism. Absolutely he had a stinker today but he's played his part in recent victories.

Well Marti didn't play Kakay again after his terrible performance at Millwall so hopefully he will do the same with Ashby

And when Dunne is injured, you'd rather he played Santos?
Also, didn't dropping Kakay coincide with Dunnes emergence as a right back. Who's your alternative at right back should Dunne not be available?

He's not our player and he was more culpable than anybody in us losing an important match. These mistakes have been coming too, if you watch him live you see the issues in every game.

Loans are supposed to improve us, not cost us, and there's no benefit to us having someone that can't be trusted short term if we don't get any of the longer term benefits. I appreciate some of his strengths but today is the final straw for me.

Santos or maybe a youngster from the under 18/ development squad

As others have pointed out Ashby isn't out player so I would rather see our player make mistakes as at least we will benefit from developing him

Last couple of home games he's looked fine to me. Sure he's made the odd mistake but he's committed and he's putting himself about. We're a lower midtable championship team so we're going to end up with players who have the odd error in them. I'm not saying we should look to sign him next season but loans are part of the game. He's not keeping a promising youngster out of the team so he's fine as back up to Jimmy Dunne for now.

On the upside , maybe that will focus club minds on the value of Dunne and that contract!

Without wishing to appear naive:
Let's say Marti (and his associates) know by now the strengths and weaknesses of the various players.
They must then know about the weaknesses of both Ashby and Paal in defending.
They would know that Leicester were going to attack and target Ashby and Paal (as other teams have).
So, in the preparation for this game (whether on the pitch or in the warmth of the training centre, I would hope that Marti would have held a briefing, specifically discussing Leicester's attack down the wings and through the centre.
At that meeting, I would hope that there was a plan for Ashby and Paal to be supported (as Marti and his associates know each can be beaten (for awareness and speed).
So....where was Ashby's cover? (if we all know and accept, he needs it!)

Separately, Marti must see how frequently the players simply give the ball away - it keeps happening and last Monday there were times we had the ball and we simply kicked it to Luton...who then attacked!

So, if you have got this far my naive question (which I have posed for a number of seasons) is 'Are there penalties imposed on the players when they do something crass? (again and again)? '

If so, then the deterrent is clearly not strong enough - stop them having a day off and come to the training ground and work on what they have done wrong! With regard to passing (and looking at the stats we regularly have for inaccurate passing, stand a number of dummies in QPR kit around the training pitch and make each culprit get 30 out of 30 passes go to the hooped shirts, whilst the colleagues watch. If they miss once then they start again until they have been able to do it! How difficult is this to set up?

Silly, I know but I am fed up with them believing they are professionals and taking money, doing crass things and not one of them being held culpable or having to 'change their ways - or else!'

Please now respond with sarcasm, but at least it IS a suggestion to change the passing mentailty.

As for Ashby, he definitely needs cover (just as a child might need extra lessons and classroom support), as does Paal and that's down to the players and Marti!

Yeah, I know....

We absolutely don't have to 'end up' with players like this, especially on loan. We are borrowing players that aren't currently good enough for this league, that doesn't make sense.

Without getting into whether he's been generally good enough for us, he was struggling today and should have been hooked at half time. Santos was hooked and he's our player - there was no logic in keeping Ashby out there. Maybe Colback could have played RB if he'd wanted to continue to rest Jimmy.

At the end of the first half he miscontrolled an easy ball on the touchline and threw his head back. It wasn't working for him today, he'd been targetted as a weak point but we were still in the game at the start of the second half. That's Marti's mistake I feel (and I love Marti).

On the question of whether or not he cares - he does have that bit of bravado about him - apparently said "never a penalty" after that volleyball spike in his own area. Annoying to see but he may have had his head in his hands in the changing room, we just don't know.

Talking sense yet again Simmo , he is a poor player with no footballing brain It’s getting tedious that a lot of our fanbase have got into the mindset or the acceptance that we should accept crap players because they chose poor little us to ply their trade

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Has a bit of the Toddy Kane about him.

He’s fine. Neither particularly good, nor particularly shit, isn’t costing anything financially and Cifuentes likes him. Wouldn’t be surprised if we took him permanently.

Didn’t see the game, but for me he has been improving of late. Very prone to making mistakes but always more likely to cost us against Premier League players.

Physically capable, but at 23, looks naive and lacking in experience.

Don’t get the billy big bollox talk, he has contributed to our upturn and has looked fully committed to the cause, joining the celebrations of victory along the way.

Clearly behind in his development, so needs to push on quickly if he wants a decent career in the game.

This is how I see it. Both he and Paal have been better lately. Dropped a bollock today but hopefully he'll bounce back if he's called upon to play at right back again just like Fox came back from his horror show to put in a couple of decent performances recently

Today has been a waiting to happen. He's been my bug bear of mine for the past few games...he's got talent, i think, but just not disciplined enough and error prone as a result. It's now become a problem.

Interesting that this horror show coincides with Saito playing in front of him rather than Smyth and Paal's recent improvement coincides with Chair coming back into the side. Saito gets a pass from everyone because he's a lovely happy chap but he's not great at supporting his full back defensively and is also not first choice material if both Chair and Smyth are fit.

There’s a big difference here, Kakay was playing against lower/mid Championship players, we’re talking about Prem players here.
I’m not saying he’s good, bad or indifferent but he’s back up for a mid to lower Championship side if the central defenders are fit.
