Swansea City v Luton Town : Match day thread GAME DAY ! on 18:03 - Dec 29 by union_jack | “ MPH got in to top gear as soon as he came on”. Don’t go looking for arguments mate. I stated a fact. I don’t in anyway ignore the contribution he did make but he’s not that good and his goal today aside, he’s not for us. In my humble opinion of course. |
I didn’t say that. Someone else might have. Not looking for an argument. Just stating a fact. He’s come on and won us the game. Key moments.

We were professional and meant business today but were let down by a bad mistake and bad ref who didn't get a grip on the game.

My mistake, apologies. I didn’t judge him on that one challenge alone nor am I judging him on that goal (which of course was how we won the game). It happened, they both happened. What it demonstrates is that he doesn’t have the physicality I’d like to see from one of our players coming on late. I’d like to see that remedied in January but getting large, physical players who are ball players as well could cost!

Fair dos, not going to slaughter Vigouroux it is a team game, players make mistakes, the team made up for that mistake with a thoroughly deserved victory. Left it late but who cares, cracking win no quarter given, enjoying the game and the win. Looking forward to the next one.

Swansea City v Luton Town : Match day thread GAME DAY ! on 17:01 - Dec 29 by Fireboy2 | Re Franco, what do you expect when he's replaced by fulton 🤷 And some people still think our bench isn't weak 🙄 |
I don't think Fulton came on and did a bad job, I would love to see us get another Franco type player in to give us that additional option and strengthen the squad and match day bench in general, but Fulton didn't put a foot wrong. What I did see though is a sudden drop in confidence and energy in the team in general when Franco was taken off and didn't come back until the red card. For me that shows we need to work on Leadership and resilience. When your best player goes off after being assaulted on the pitch, players should rally around and step up to stick two fingers up at the opposition. I saw the opposite for that brief spell. Don't take anything away from the Swans, I thought it was a great overall performance and result, but the signs I'm seeing is a team lacking confidence when Franco isn't in it. Remember he didn't play a single minute in two of our worst performances this season. 2-1 loss against Hull and our League Cup exit against Wycombe. Just saying!

Swansea City v Luton Town : Match day thread GAME DAY ! on 17:44 - Dec 29 by union_jack | If he’s out injured on Wednesday he is pulling a sicky! It was a cut to the mouth which shouldn’t affect him. How the hell McGuinness didn’t see a yellow and then walk I have absolutely no idea. I just had a look on BBC HYS and one Luton supporter thinks the ref gave us everything and only booked Luton players |
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/swansea-city A bit harsh to make that.comment re Franco pulling a sickie That ref should never ever ref a.game at this level ever again. So many blatant penalties not given....the pullback on Nianchinni was a cert.....I thought pulling g a shirt in the penalty area was a no no The ref hadno clueLtknwere.thuggish and fell over and looked fir.everything. Great.performance today to get that win

I could put that another way, when Grimes and Fulton pair up from the start we are usually poor. Grimes and Franco makes a big difference. Honestly, I'd rather put Ollie Cooper on because at least he brings a lot of energy and determination to the mix, it just seems to go a bit limp with Fulton there. Which is a shame because Fulton used to be good for us. I think our drop in confidence today was partly down to the ref, we had 2 good penalty shouts and one was surely nailed on. Then later on he gave a foul against us when the player was slightly nudged and went down easy. The red card definitely helped us but I thought we did quite well against a team clearly hap[py to take a point, a team who sat deep and got dirty with the ref letting them get away with most of it. Vigoroux made the big mistake but we survive that, he'll make the odd mistake, as long as it's not every game that's ok. Grimes covered every blade today but I actually think he was trying to do too much, it saw him be out of position a few tiimes. He had another good game but he needs help and when Franco isn't there it really shows. I still think we'd beb better off making someone else Captain so Grimes can just concentrate on his football. I think he's enough of a pro to accept it and still give his best. The nasty truth is, Allen is now a waste of time. His injury problems have caught up with him, he's a passenger and we cannot afford that. Offer him a coaching role (has he done his badges?) and renegotiate the deal with him, bring in another player who will be regularly available. I'd send Peart-Harris back too. I'd list Fulton and tell him he's done here, Tjoe-a-On as well. If we can move them on then use the money for the new players. I know it won't be that easy but we have to cut the dead wood and move on. Sorry but for Allen, as good as he was, these days he is dead wood for us.

In hindsight it absolutely was the wrong thing. Agree with you on that and the other things you said about the ref.👍

Swansea City v Luton Town : Match day thread GAME DAY ! on 22:36 - Dec 29 with 466 views | RichardO | Are the First team starters now established barring injuries or is it just for home games? So now it is time for other players in the squad to match or prove themselves better than we have now or at least keep the standard achieve be it because of being used as Subs or the need for rotation of the squad. New signings or Academy products or loans?(edited to add loans and the question mark.) [Post edited 29 Dec 2024 22:47]

We will have players coming back from injury, some quicker than others, these could challenge. Depending who comes in we can expect Abdulai and Lloyd to possibly go out on loan. But I would agree our starting 11 in the last two games are our best available IMO.
