Mandelson to be next Ambassador to USA. 09:06 - Dec 20 with 935 viewsfelixstowe_jack

Looks like Mandelson is to be the Uk's ambassador to the USA.
This despite twice having to resign from the Cabinet, first for an undisclosed loan to finance his mortgage and then in a "cash for passport " scandal.

He is an ex EU commissioners and as such still receives a hefty pension from the EU.

This looks like cronyism at its best. UK Ambassadors are usually career diplomats not former politicians.

He will no doubt continue push his pro EU and anti Brexit views.

I have not been following the trade deals stuff. I do remember the Brexiteers saying this US deal would be the easiest deal to do and would be done very quickly. Gove perhaps.

Eight years later. .....Er no.

It’s not 8 years though is it? We left the EU in early 2020 then went straight into a pandemic for 2 years. Progress was being made with the Trump administration but then The Biden administration started playing silly buggers over Ireland so talks stagnated so we had to reach agreements with individual states instead.

It has been 8 years according to Johnson and Gove. "The easiest deal to do ever" and "off the shelf texts". Trump should not consider a deal based on political circumstances of that moment but 300 years of history.

COVID is irrelevant another red herring. UK public were told to expect a deal within weeks.

Where is the non Euro investment. I eos and 3000 jobs lad on bt y the Senedd boned by Brexit and replace by 90 maintenance jobs from a computer park.

Where is the Brexit dividend? No more excuses.
