Rachael 09:27 - Dec 19 with 1241 views | Boundy | Looks like the Chancellor of this great country is now in more of the sticky stuff, it appears a letter sent to her from a Tory MP Richard Holden asking her directly to clarify her position whilst holding the role of an economist, "Under government guidance, published in September, it states ministers should respond to such correspondence within 20 working days, meaning Ms Reeves should have responded by Monday December 16 at the latest" but she hasn't , its not a good look mispresenting your self at the best of times but for a senior member of a Government even less so. On a side note note google Richard the 111 ,that's an uncanny resemblance if I may say so .

The major problem with the current government is they totally lack experience and are trying to fill roles that they are incapable of doing. The theory was right get the Conservatives out and get Labour in who promised so much. But nobody thought through how they would actually run the country without any quality on the front benches.

I agree, the Torys had run out of steam , ideas and leadership and had to go. Looking at the front bench and the qualifications needed to run a country then its frightening to see that there is very little or any which could honestly admit to having.

As I posted on the Budget Thread before the Budget there are issues with an approach that looks for growth and hopes for returns from taxing business and some wealth. There are always choices in a Budget but going after businesses with NI, Minimum Wage and Workplace Reforms at the same time is a risk, a phased approach would be better. If the tax returns do not increase as planned the cost of borrowing goes up quickly and we are in emergency budget territory because we have so much debt which will cost more and more to repay and the cost of repayment will squeezing services. The 10 Year Gilt rate is now above the level that was reached after Truss' budget, if the markets see a downturn in the economy we will be in trouble. I'm not an economist but having worked in business for many years, I do understand that when carrying large amounts of debt you tread slowly otherwise you risk going underwater as the debt costs can overwhelm you. France is in this territory. [Post edited 19 Dec 19:09]

If your going to lift an article and post it in its entirety why not include the link so we can see who the source is and be able to make up our own mind on the veracity of the the information. Guido Fawkes ( the source ) is hardly a reliable and impartial source of information. We’ve another 4 and 1/2 years to go, let’s see what happens. Because so far what they’ve offered isn’t credible. Their “manifesto” for the last GE contained something like a £150bn black hole, huge tax cuts were promised but these were completely unfunded al a Truss. Mental.

I'm Labour through and through, but I'm bitterly disappointed with them so far, Reeves could have made a much better job with the wfa. Farage is a talking horse never been any different, he says what's wrong but has no idea on how to right the wrong apart from his far off ideas and has no idea on how he'll pay for them, no substance to him at all and he's thoroughly dislikeable. I don't think anything of the Liberal party never given them any thought ever, all I know is that the Torys have ruined us and ladled the Country with a massive debt and this Labour Government are going to bankrupt the tax payer with their current polices. Working for the media, working as trade union solicitors, college lecturers, ex local councillors, 3rd sector charity lot, and working as political researchers are not REAL jobs.
