It's a sign of the times I was in school too. I had to do Latin and when that stopped they considered I was too behind so no point in doing Welsh.
I don't want the language to die but if there is enough interest it will survive without a leg up.
Schools in Wales are badly in need of funding, we struggle to recruit teachers, building are falling apart, isn't that more worthy of a leg up and that's before we egt to the NHS and saving peoples lives. |

If it’s saving money in education I can think of a pretty long list that would come before cutting languages.

Well it seems as if there is more interest in learning Spanish or German or other European languages.

Welsh speakers on here see questioning of the language as heresy .
It is not a personal attack
French German Spanish are spoken by rather more world wide
I read of sone down west not having that good English skills
