Amd yet teams need to know that once a press becomes too restrictive a well thought out long ball is needed amd at times quickl passing opens up defence no need to for fullback to get involved further up the park.

Our play out from the back this season has had a lot of variation. Yes we play it short, but are not afraid to play it long from Vigouroux with Cabango and Darling playing long balls at times also. Personally I think it is nothing like it was under Martin, hence our better defencive record and not giving away silly goals. |  | | |

We are helped by LV's distribution generally being better than I've seen from a keeper here in a long time. Possibly even better than Fabianski's. Not sure what we're gaining from that short goal kick nonsense though. I'm not as terrified when we did is as I was when Russy was here, but there's absolutely no advantage being gained.
If Russell Martin was capable of learning then he wouldn't be Russell Martin. Six years of management and he's still setting his defences up to fail. [Post edited 25 Nov 7:07]
