Had no choice. He only had Gylfi, de Guzman, Ki, Leon, Fer, Cork and a whole host of others ahead of him. At that age he had no chance of getting a game.

yes, but he was cheaper.

we could have kept loaning him out, as you can see he would have suited us for a few years,

Bellamy has done an absolutely fantastic job with near enough the same squad as page.

If page was still in charge we would have finished bottom.

To be fair to Bellamy, he comes across as honest and sensible, which maybe some of us, including me, didn’t expect.

He’s not saying anything we didn’t already know about Cullen, but he’s bang on.

Cullen does everything right, runs himself into the ground and his attitude is always great. He just doesn’t have that bit extra to set him apart. A bit more pace, size, or ability to beat players and he’d be a top player.

I would really like to see him get a couple if games in the number 10 role. He is not a one up front player and has been played there because we are short, play him where he played last night and he will thrive.

It seems Cullens normal critics are having a quiet day today.

He played an advanced midfield role, either starting or on for Allen the last three games and did well in all of them.

Last time he started up front he had a really poor game. Agree that role suits him better.

The question of playing a number 10 role with two wingers stuck out wide leaves us light in the middle of midfield especially when the gap between the front players the the miidfiels becomes too great, William's is using Key to close that gap withhis pace and ability to drive forward with the ball but if the defence is indecisive about picking up the number 10 we must get the ball quicker to feet to him allowing him to pick out the spaces in behind the fullbacks reducing the need for Key to cut inside when pushing forward.
So Cullen needs to know when his role is as a number 10 or an advanced midfielder but that depends on the players around him, if he drops deeper who makes the midfield runs beyond him, it doesn't seem to be Grimes, Franco has but hasn't been clinical in his finishing, the answer seems to be Key but can he do that if fulfilling his defensive role especially if needed against wingers who are teams best outlet.
With players returning from injury things may change they are notback yet, is Bianchini a better option playing up top with Cullen , lots to be tweaked to get those elusive goals while keeping the defensive part of the game strong.

I'd go 4-1-4-1. Grimes DM and Franco and Cullen in the middle further forward.

From the little I’ve seen of Bianchini, he looks better than either of our strikers up front.

Yes, I prefer Cullen in a midfield 3 to a #10. I don’t think he quite has the guile to either thread through balls or beat opponents and open up defences.

He is more involved in midfield which suits his skillset much better. He can still break forward and get into the box from there.
